Chapter 44 - Third Painting

We are now in third year college and so far, there are no mysterious deaths caused by Mason. He somehow stopped and we don't know why.

During our free time, pinag-aaralan namin mabuti ni Maddison ang proseso ng body transfer. We were able to discover the spells required for this forbidden craft, but we can't actually test it.

Pagdating ng sembreak, sinundo ko si Maia sa Cambridge para pumunta kami sa Greece. We stayed in touch kahit malayo kami sa isa't isa.

"Pwede ka na bumalik sa university, so far walang mysterious deaths," sabi ko kay Maia habang nasa Kalabaka, Greece kami at naglulunch.

"Di na papayag si lolo at saka isang taon na lang mahigit, graduate na ko. I want to be a professor someday and pumayag si lolo na sa Pilipinas ako magwork."

"Pumayag si lolo mo or did you insist to work in the Philippines para kasama ko?"

"Jared, gusto ko talaga mag work na kasama ka. Alam mo naman na Psychology ang course ko. Gusto ko malaman kung anong psychological disorder meron ka talaga."

"Maia, let's go back to the Philippines for a week. Let us ask Maddie to locate your father using your mother's painting. I can call your grandfather. He knows that you are still my girlfriend right?"

"Sabi ko break na tayo at may new boyfriend na ko."

"What the hell, Maia! Sinabi mo yun!"

"Eh bakit ka sumisigaw?"

"Sinabi mo ba talaga sa lolo mo na break na tayo? Answer me!"

"Joke lang, bakit parang sasapukin mo ko? Bakla ka ba at pumapatol ka sa babae?"

"Tignan mo tong babaeng to. Una may psychological disorder ako, ngayon bakla ako. Alam mo, sumusobra ka. May pagkakalagyan ka talaga sa akin kapag napikon ako."

Inirapan lang ako ni Maia. Madalas kapag magkasama kami, hindi natatapos ang araw ng hindi kami nag-aaway. And I am already used to it. In fact, I am enjoying every minute of it.

Sa loob ng ilang araw namin sa Greece, hindi namin naabutan na gising ang mommy ni Maia. Sumama naman siya sa akin Pilipinas para malaman kung sino ba talaga ng daddy niya.

"Yung mga portraits ni daddy, andito sa basement. Kahit galit ang lolo ko sa kanya, iningatan niya ang mga paintings ni mommy," sabi na Maia pagpasok namin sa isang kwarto sa basement.

May ilang paintings sa wall pero may tatlong framed paintings na may cover ng blanket. Tinanggal ni Maia ang mga nakatakip na blanket at isang lalakeng blonde ang nakadrawing. The same man na nakita ko sa visions ko noon. There is nothing unusual but the man looks like a foreigner. Siguro Spanish kasi na meet siya ng mommy ni Maia sa Spain.

The same man is on the second painting, but this time, he has a curly blond hair. Malamang picture niya bago pa ito nagpagupit.

When Maia removed the cover of the third painting, di ko mapigilan ang di mapaatras. It was the same man with curly blond hair but he has a pair of golden wings and he is holding a silver sword, an Angelus.

"May problema ba Jared?" tanong ni Maia dahil alam niya na nabigla ako sa huli kong nakita.

"This man with golden wings, this is your father. Am I right?" tanong ko kay Maia.

"Yeah, mommy probably sees him as her guardian angel."

"Is it alright if I will took a photo of this painting? I will just ask a friend to check this."

Tumango lang si Maia at mabilis ko na sinend ang picture ng daddy niya kay Raviael. If my theory is correct, Rave knows this man. Within a few minutes, my phone rang. Si Maia naman ay nakatingin lang sa akin at inoobserbahan ang kilos ko.

"Where did you get that photo?" tanong ni Rave sa phone. Kahit di niya sabihin, I can sense panic in his voice.

"A woman named Melissa painted it years ago. Do you know who is the man in that painting?"

"Of course I know him! But that's not the point. How was she able to paint him?"

"Melissa probably met the guy in person, you tell me," natatawa kong sagot dahil bihira ko lang marinig na nagpapanic si Raviael.

"Come on, Jared. Anong alam mo?"

"Rave, do you remember Maia Saavedra? She's the daughter of Melissa Saavedra. And do you know who is her father?"

"Oh shit shit shit! Where is Melissa? Is she okay? Damn it. I should have known it when I met Maia. I felt a certain attachment to her. Can I talk to Melissa? Is she there?"

"Melissa is in Greece. She has a certain condition that needs to be hidden in public. If you wish to meet her, she's in Kalabaka. Sasamahan ka namin ni Maia."

"When is the earliest I can meet her?"

"Maddie will still try a locator spell so baka..."

"No need Jared. Let's go to Melissa so Maia can meet her father."
