Chapter 69 - Trust

(POV Maia)

After ng trip namin ni Jared sa Armenia, bumalik uli kami sa Pilipinas. Though he already solved the Van Gogh related puzzle, Jared is not confident about the plans of Abraxas. He still does not trust the demon general.

"Hindi mo talaga sasabihin sa akin kung saan ka pumunta?" tanong ni Maddie pagkabalik namin sa bahay.

"Ang kulit mo, nag honeymoon nga kami Maia. Gusto lang namin mag unwind ng kaming dalawa lang. Ayoko ng istorbo kaya umalis muna kami dito. Masaya ka naman di ba dahil solo mo si Cole?"

Inirapan lang ni Maddie si Jared. It is obvious na hindi siya naniniwala sa kakambal niya. She knows that we left the country for a reason.

"Asan si Cole? I haven't seen him since morning," tanong ko kay Maddie at umupo sa sofa katabi ni Jared.

"He is out with Amos. It seems that the demon related killings abruptly stopped. The demons may be aware about the existence of Nameless."

"Julia Maddison, I have a big favor to ask you," seryosong sabi ni Jared sabay upo ng maayos.

"Sure, ano ba yun?"

"Do you trust me, sister?" tanong ni Jared at hinawakan ang kamay ng kapatid niya.

"Jared, kahit buhay ko ipagkakatiwala ko sayo. You may be a difficult brother to deal with, but I trust you."

"Can you trust me with your white medallion?"

"Yes, of course. But I want to know why do you need it. Madami ka na tinatago sa akin at gusto ko na magtampo sayo. You are keeping secrets from me."

"Maddie, that is the big favor that I am asking. I want to borrow the white medallion and I don't want you to tell any single soul na nasa akin yun. Moreover, I want you to stop asking why. I want you to trust me on this."

Mabilis naman na tinanggal ni Maddie ang necklace niya with white tearshaped diamond pendant na nakasabit sa leeg niya. This is similar to the red necklace that Jared gave me.

"I won't tell anyone and I won't ask more about it. This is to prove that I trust you," sabi ni Maddie sabay bigay ng necklace kay kamay ni Jared.

Alam ko na masama ang loob ni Maddie sa kapatid niya for keeping secrets from her, but she knows her brother. Alam niya na may reason ang lahat at alam niya na hindi siya ilalagay sa panganib ng kapatid niya.

"Bakit ayaw mo sabihin kay Maddie ang lahat?" tanong ko kay Jared habang nasa tabi kami ng swimming pool.

Maddie and Cole is already sleeping at kami naman ni Jared ay minabuting magpahangin sa labas. He is holding my hand and though we lack the label, I can feel that this demon king is exclusively mine.

"She does not trust Abraxas and she won't give me the necklace kapag nalaman niya na nakipag sabwatan ako kay Abraxas."

"Do you think it will work?"

"I don't trust that ice cream addict demon, but I trust my Uncle Quinn and Uncle Syl," sabi ni Jared sabay halik sa kamay ko.

"How about me? Do you trust me Jared?" tanong ko sa kanya habang nakatingin sa mata niya.

Akala ko sasagutin niya ko, pero tinaasan niya lang ako ng kilay at pinitik ang ilong ko.

"Aray naman! Baka mo ko pinitik?" inis kong tanong sa kanya.

"Eh nakakainis yung tanong mo eh!"

"I am just asking you if you trust me, sasagutin mo lang ng oo o hindi. Bakit kailangan na pitikin mo pa ko sa...?"

Jared kissed me to stop me from saying another word. He cupped my face as if saying he trusts me. Sa mga oras na yun, alam ko mahal ko na ang demon king na ito.

"May itatanong ka pa?" he whispered as he gently bit my lips before kissing the outline of my jaw. I can feel his hands touching me almost everywhere.

"What time ako aalis?" I asked him as I touch his hair, pero in a blink of an eye, we teleported inside his room.

"Pagkatapos kitang tikman," natatawa niyang sagot before removing his shirt and pulling me towards his bed.
