Chapter 65 - Van Gogh

First time ko makita na ganito ka down si Jared. Para siyang isang bata na walang kalaro at inagawan ng laruan. He just sat on the bath tub at hinayaan lang niya ko na paliguan siya.

"Maia, I will be gone for a few days. Stay with Maddie and Cole for the mean time," sabi ni Jared habang sinasabon ko ang likod niya. Para tuloy akong nagpapaligo ng aso sa mga oras na ito.

"Saan ka pupunta?"

"I can't tell you where."

"I can't tell you where, my ass. Kung saan ka man pupunta, I will follow you," I answered firmly. Jared is confused right now at hindi ko siya pwedeng hayaan na mag-isa. I want to be there for him.

"Maia, it is dangerou..."

"Stop! Kailan tayo aalis?"

"Tonight. Cole is usually out during the night. He is still trying to locate kung saan naganap ang mga pagpatay sa videos na nareceived natin. Pagtulog na si Maddie saka tayo aalis," Jared said and sighed. Siguro alam niya na hindi ako papayag na aalis siyang mag-isa.

Bago dumating ang midnight, tahimik kami na umalis ni Jared. We took the fastest plane out of the country to Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. Maddie was so furious when she found out that Jared and I are on the other side of the world.

"I told you, dapat sinabi natin sa kay Maddie agad na aalis tayo," sabi ko kay Jared habang nasa taxi kami papunta sa Vagharshapat, a popular town west of the capital city of Yerevan.

"Di ba sabi ko sayo, secret yung lugar na pupuntahan natin? Buti nga sinama kita dito eh!" inis na sagot niya sa akin. I just smiled silently dahil bumalik na ang pagiging suplado ng demon king.

"Secret? Hello? Do you think Amos can't track us?"

"There are only few cameras here in Armenia. I doubt that he can easily find us. Kaya nga may disguise tayo di ba?" natatawang sabi ni Jared.

He is referring to the turban that he is wearing. He looks like a Saudi Arabian prince na naka shades. He even asked me to wear a scarf to cover my face.

"Mukhang nag-eenjoy ka sa disguise mo noh? Hoy, tandaan mo, hindi mo pa alam ang sagot sa riddle ni Nameless. Wag ka masyado magpakasaya."

"Yung bloody drawings?"

"Yep, kahit ako hindi ko maintindihan yung mga drawings sa wall. Sana gumamit man lang sila ng colored paint. Bakit kasi dugo ang ginamit nila?"

Jared just shrugged his shoulders and smiled at me. May tinatago itong demon king na ito sa akin. Malamang alam na niya kung tungkol saan ang mga drawings, ayaw niya lang sabihin.

"Umamin ka, you already know kung ano yung drawing na yun?" tanong ko kay Jared nang mapansin ko na di niya maitago ang ngiti niya sa mukha niya.

"It took me sometime to realize kung ano ang mga drawings na yun. The only clue that I have is the Dutch man in Zundert, Netherlands. But the latest illustrations on the wall are quite explicit. There is no doubt that the drawing is a trying-hard duplicate of the Red Poppies oil canvas painting of Vincent Van Gogh."

"Vincent Van Gogh? Yung painter na may kanta na Starry Starry Night?"

"If I am not mistaken, the first drawing on the wall an unsuccessful replica of his painting called Irises. The second one, though hindi masyadong halata, it is closer to the Sunflower painting of Van Gogh. The third one, yung parang may roots or yung sinsabi mo na dendrites is probably his famous Almond Blossom painting. Van Gogh was born in Zundert, Netherlands. I just need to know where those suicide took place for me to make a link."

"My mother loves art works especially the creations of Michelangelo, but I consider it boring. Di ako marunong maka appreciate ng work of art. I did not know na marami ka palang alam about sa art, Jared. I am impressed."

"Wala akong masyadong alam sa artworks and paintings, I just so happened to remember Van Gogh's creations sa isang libro."

"Simpleng yabang ka din eh?"

"Kaya nga mahal mo ko di ba?" sabi ni Jared sabay yakap sa akin habang nasa likuran kami ng taxi.

"Psssh! Saan ba tayo pupunta?"

"There is an old cathedral here in Armenia that was built in early fourth century. Some even considered it as one of the oldest cathedrals in the world. We are going to meet someone there."

"Ang layo ng meeting place niyo."

"Dapat nga di ka kasama, pero baka mamissed mo ko kaya pumayag na ako. We are here, bumaba ka na or gusto mo mag yakapan na lang tayo hanggang mamaya?"

"Eto na, bababa na!"
