Chapter 56 - Pool Attack

(POV Maia)

Paglabas ko ng bahay nila Jared, natagpuan ko siya na nakaupo sa isang bench sa tabi ng pool. He is just staring blankly on the pool as if napaka lalim ng iniisip.

"Jared, are you okay?" tanong ko sa kanya sabay upo sa tabi niya.

"I am just worried, something is not adding up."

"Hey, andito kami ni Maddie at ni Cole. Let us work together. What is bothering you?"

"The demon generals, I know that they are after you and after the medallions. They attacked Uncle Joaquin with no restraint. They even influenced Mason to do their bidding. They are in a hurry to get the medallions and to take hold of you. They won't think about this shitty riddle. This is not like them."

"Are you sure, Jared? Pwedeng revenge nila ito dahil hindi nila na control si Mason," sabi ko sabay hawak sa kamay niya.

"If they want revenge, they can just kill anyone na gusto nila. They don't need this game, Maia."

"Do you think it is someone else?"

"I think so, but Lilith is gone and the demon generals are the only enemies that we have left. Mason is in hibernation mode. Who else is capable of killing random people at the same time? Who is powerful enough to hack Cole's laptop and know our location and identities? Who is this person who has knowledge about guardian writings?"

"Jared, it must be Alastair and Abraxas. Sabi mo nga, these demon generals are powerful and cunning. Everything points to them. We know who are the culprit, but all we need to know is when and where they will next kill."

I don't feel good about this. Madalas tama ang mga intuition ni Jared. Kung hindi demon generals ang kalaro namin, it must be someone who is stronger and has psychopathic tendencies.

"Maia, if we are dealing with the demon generals, do you think they will just stop once we answered their riddle? My father was with them before I was born. He knew how wicked they are specially Alastair."

"Bakit mabait ba si Abraxas?"

"Did you ever hate me Jared?"

"I hate you Maia for even asking that. How can I hate my... slave?" sabi niya sabay hawak sa chin ko. His eyes are fixed on mine. Kahit gusto ko umiwas sa tingin niya, I just can't.

"Slave? Hanggang ngayon ba slave lang tingin mo sa akin?" seryoso kong tanong sa kanya.

"Do you really want to know the answer?"

I want to answer yes, pero biglang gumalaw ang tubig sa pool. Unti unti itong umikot na parang whirlpool. A thick black smoke suddenly appeared in a form a man. There is no doubt that this is Mason.

Jared abruptly pulled me closer to him at hinarang niya ang katawan niya sa akin. He hugged me as if he is protecting me from an incoming attack. When I opened my eyes, I saw Mason standing in front of us, but my eyes widened when I saw several black daggers floating in front of Mason as if he is stopping these blades. Kung wala si Mason, these daggers will surely hit Jared.

Tumango lang si Jared at mabilis niya ko hinila papasok sa bahay. Si Cole naman at si Maddie ay nag-aalala na sinalubong kami.

"I felt Mason, what happened? Maia are you okay?" tanong ni Maddie.

"Someone or something attacked us sa may pool. Mason helped us. It is not a deadly strike, pero it was meant to scare us or to taunt us," sagot ni Jared.

"Jared, I think it is a warning. Please see this," sabi ni Cole sabay harap ng laptop sa amin.

Julia and Jared, I think highly of both of you, but you need to take me seriously...

All of their blood is in your hands...

"Damn it, gusto niyang makipaglaro tayo sa kanya. I doubt that we are dealing with Abraxas or Alastair anymore. I did not feel any demonic presence kanina sa pool. Cole, anong sabi ni Amos?"

"Amos confirmed that someone accessed my laptop remotely, but he can't ping the location. The hacker seemed to be visible in different countries at the same time," sagot ni Cole.

"Maddie, show me everything you have about this suicide."

"Tama ang na received natin na message kanina. Three suicide cases started this morning in Singapore, while another fourteen cases in Ecuador. Fifteen more deaths in New Zealand while another ninety two in Spain. The latest one is in Melbourne, Australia, sixty five suicide simultaneous cases. Jared, these killings are from different continents. Random gender and age," paliwanag ni Maddie.

Jared sat on the sofa bed at humarap sa laptop. He typed something on the Command Prompt. I think he is testing if the so called hacker will send a response.

My eyes widened nang nag simulang gumalaw ang cursor at sumagot ang kausap ni Jared. I know what he is doing. Jared is trying to gain more information kung sino ang kausap namin.

"He is killing every two hours, that is constant. The suicide cases in Melbourne, it started just an hour ago. He will probably kill after an hour," sabi ni Jared habang nagtatype sa laptop.

We waited for a response, pero for almost a few minutes, walang kaming narereceive na sagot. The cursor is still blinking, but there is no answer from Nameless.

"Tama kaya ang sagot natin?" tanong ko kay Jared.

"I don't think so. New York is a lame answer, but we need to know more. We only have limited information and we have no choice but to guess."

"Jared, look at the last message. It shows Just tell me when and where and how many. Akala ko ba when and where lang ang gusto niya. Nameless even wants us to guess kung ilan tao ang mamamatay?" tanong ko kay Jared.

"I think so too, Maia. Cole, let me know the next batch of suicide. Nameless will surely kill soon," sagot ni Jared na dumerecho sa kitchen.
