Let's Talk Fanfiction!! {Closed}

So uh..here we are at day six, with nothing too terrifying popping up and announcing its presence. That's why I saved this one especially for today. That way it seems like a "grand finale" but tomorrow will have a slightly tamer rant that doesn't include having your eyes blinded so you can recuperate from today's stuff.

So I draw fanart. Sort of. Actually, yeah I do, and I'm pretty damn proud of it!
But......the stuff posted online from certain people can be...interesting to say the least.

For starters, we have the common Recolor. This is where someone takes a Canon character, draws over them, and claims them as an original OC. That's over half of the Sonic Fan Character Universe right there.
This isn't okay to do. It's called plagiarism and it's very obvious. People can immediately see your level of "skill" through doing this, and I promise you that it won't be an amazing reaction.
What'd you expect me to say?
"Oh my, you color inside the lines like a true artist!! You have huge talent!!!"
Sorry, pal, that's not what I'm here for.
I can understand using a pic for a base. If you're still practicing, using another character's pose can help you improve. But recoloring isn't a gift or a talent or something that I could consider noteworthy.

Secondly, we have the Joke Sues, which is probably my favorite category for any fandom art list. They're hilarious, often pointing out the most obvious of cliche or Mary Sue traits and using them in these fake characters. But it's better if I just show you what they are.

This next category is in every fandom out there because...I honestly don't even know. I guess people are really bored or something. We're talking suggestive drawings or actual porn. And I mean, it's fine if it's not all you draw. It's like with writing, in this case. You have to try different styles and themes to really get good at it. But if this is all– or nearly– that you draw and you post it frequently where lil kid eyes can see them, then maybe it's time to rethink what you're doing with life. This is mostly aimed at fandoms who's majorities are kiddos (like Sonic, MLP, FNAF, etc).
Honestly, I've brought points up like this that are so similar and I do it so often that I'm thinking I should just start a riot instead of ranting on it. Maybe those who actually do this stuff will listen. We have to protect the teeny tiny tater tots of this world from the horrors of the Internet!

Aaaaand I need to move on.

The last category is actual good art. The stuff crushed under the piles upon piles of all the other categories like gold under a mountain of trash.
But it's even worse when the other members of the fandom notice their art and are so pissed because maybe the artist didn't make the skin the right color or maybe the eyes were too big or some other really tiny unimportant detail.

Look, pal, it's okay if you can't draw as well as this other person. But don't bring them down by telling them their art sucks because of some detail no one really gives two shits about.

Or if you're the kind of person who does this because you genuinely feel like you're the biggest fan and it's your job to rid the unworthy scum of the fandom, then maybe you should look over on some other site where people are making drawings from any other category above.
Or y'know.
See a shrink. Get some meds. Stop trying to be the ruler of Steven Universe or Care Bears.
