Have I done this? Maybe? I think I briefly discussed it? I dunno. I can't remember XD

This isn't a topic I generally like doing, mainly because I still have OCs from when I was six and they are really overpowered.
We're talking practically gods and goddesses. But again, I was six.

So it's come to my attention that there are some really messed up characters out there. Like reaaaaaaallllly messed up. And a lot of the times it's because they make the canon characters OOC or they are overall outlandishly Mary Sue.
But even if both those factors are present, I will still read the fanfic until my brain melts. What tips me off most of the time is the moment went the character suddenly gets these powers and it's like: Whoa. What happened here? Why?

Not only will this character have fire abilities, but also super strength, the ability to read minds, fly, shape shift, suck souls—

It's madness. Then you'll have that one battle where the character is on the brink of dying and he/she lets out this massive power move. The villain is defeated and the MC blacks out.

The other thing that ticks me off about this? Most of the time, the character is "exceptionally good" at his/her ability. Sometimes they'll have no training whatsoever their entire lives or they've just gotten the power, and then they'll be amazing when using it. That's not how things like this work.

There could be cases where a person can barely start a few simple sparks or not able at all.
There could be some who have the power of flight and not only are they afraid of heights, they're the worst at steering.

Does it not bother anyone else when this happens??

And THEN the characters almost never lose a battle. Ever. Not only is a person NOT going to be super awesome with their powers, but they're probably not going to be winning fights right off the bat.

I mean COME ON!!!

Do you know any Pokemon Trainer who was good their first try?
Or any Weapon and Meiser who could kill efficiently their first day? (Souleater reference– great anime, but I prefer the mangas)
What about TMNT? I doubt the ninja turtles were a kick-butt group after one day of practice.

Seriously. Think about these things before you write it down.

And now it's story time because I have a real life situation that goes along with this.

So when I was really dumb when I was ten. I thought I had these way past cool super human powers and it was ridiculous. Understanding animals, making fire bend with a single thought. Again, I was reaaaaaallllly dumb.

Around this time, I got my writer friend, Mia (which isn't her real name) into the same thing. We thought she could control winds and storms. It was great.

One afternoon at recess, we were "practicing" our made skills and she was doing some weird wind spell thingy. As soon as we got home, there was this huge frenzy over a gigantic storm south of us. And I remember almost breaking down because I really believed it was our fault that people were dying and losing homes.

But now we know it was a queer coincidence, and to this day we still laugh about the time Mia called up a storm!
