Hello, hello, all you dorks, geeks, and fan freaks! It is me!!!!! I'm back from the dead and now I'm here to KILL YOU A—

Haha, wow. What am I, twelve? Okay, okay, putting all the celebratory pizzas and cakes and whatnot down the trash, it's time to get serious.

Today's Spooky Topic: M҉A҉R҉Y҉ S҉U҉E҉S҉!!!!

That's right, the rant that I've so blatantly avoided for this entire book. And I mean, I know it's not THAT SCARY to talk about, but c'mon. Don't tell me knowing that our world is about to be ran by kids who make THESE doesn't terrify you in any way:

So with that being said...lets do this!

One way to tell if a character is a Mary-Sue right off the bat is the way she looks.

Go ahead and tell me that isn't a Mary-Sue

Go ahead and tell me that isn't a Mary-Sue. Go on. I dare you.
Mary-Sue's are always described to have these amazing appearances, almost flawless really. There's not a single pimple on their face, not one scar that isn't significant on their skin. It's really discouraging if you're like me and you come across these images or stories with characters that are the equivalent of a model and you think,
Well, I really look like shit now.
You wonder why people are starving themselves? Imagery like this. You know why most teenage girls have low self esteem? Because we've been taught to be overly concerned about our body image. It's not right.
I've never come across a scene where someone sees the Mary-Sue as ugly unless it's her enemy. Not once. Instead, I see paragraphs of this repeating bull crap:

Her hair was a vibrant pink in the light of the sun, her sparkling blue eyes trained on him with a smile. She wasn't showing any skin, but she didn't have to. Anyone would've turned their head when she walked by. And he couldn't seem to keep his gaze off her.

Bleh. I'm sorry, why am I here again?
Right, right. To scare you.
I doubt you'll find that example even the least bit terrifying. Maybe annoying at most.

All right, next up is their personality- a cardboard copy of itself. They're strong-willed and sensitive, kind but can give good comebacks, never angry unless friends are hurt, and will always have a low self esteem.
