Chapter 59 - The Aftermath

In the game of life, you must choose to be wise. Pick your allies from those whom you can place trust, from those who keep it like fragile glass. Avoid those who shape-shift for they can be deceiving. They can betray you. And above all, ensure loyalty because it is what keeps a bond strong and unmoved.

But you see, it is completely okay to lose. Do not fear to lose what needs to be lost. Losing is not the opposite of winning. It's part of winning. So when you lose, make it a lesson, use it as a motivation that would set your soul on fire. The race won't stop even if you stumble. So why not continue until such time that you arrive on the finish line.

Thunder's POV

It has been three weeks and we're here in the Mafia Venin's Private Hospital. I've been keeping a close look at her and how she's been doing. I am left alone to guard her for today. Kuya Zero is busy processing the papers for her travel abroad. But of course, I'll go with her. So I asked ate Thalia to do the same for me. I won't let her slip away this time. Not from my touch, not from my sight.

Specialists in the field of chemical bonding, narcotics and a few doctors were working on her for days and she's having all the treatment she needs. At first, It was hard to identify which part of her body the chip was attached to. Then after thorough examination, they finally got the manipulating trash out of her body. The problem was that, the removal of the chip caused infection due to the unknown chemicals that spread throughout the blood. This was the third and final day for Dialysis. But I know she can make it. She's brave. I know she will.

You better come back to me Avi. God knows you have to. If not, then I'll ask Him to send back your soul straight from heaven.

"She's awake." one of the doctors said and I immediately entered the room. And the rest of the gang followed.

The girls immediately went to hug her tight. They were all teary-eyed and we, the boys just watched them carefully.

"We're so sorry." mahinang sabi ni Alexis habang niyayakap si Avi.

"We were too late. Kung agad lang naming nalaman. Hindi sana hahantong sa ganito." pagpapatuloy ni Tiara na nakapout pa.

"Tss. Mukha talagang bata." kumento ni Cody.

"No, it's my fault. I don't always inform you about my whereabouts. And I was not careful enough. But still, even if the kidnapping did not happen, they would still find a way to carry out their plan. So all of it is still meant to be done in the first place." pagpapaliwanag niya at sandaling natahimik ang lahat.

"Sa susunod sana Raven-este Avianna, ipagpaalam mo naman sa amin para kahit papaano hindi kami natataranta." puna ni Jordan.

"There's no need. I won't let her do those things anymore." singit ko sa kanilang paguusap. Tumayo ako at naglakad papalapit sa kanya. As if on cue, they all slowly went outside.

I saw her staring at me with those pair of cerulean blue orbs piercing through my soul. A tear escaped her eye. I hugged her tight and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Sshh. It's alright." she hugged me back.

"I'm so sorry. I can clearly see with my two bare eyes but I've been blind after all these years." I know what she is pertaining to. Her memories.

"Now, do you remember the night of the attack at your family's ancestral house?" I asked her and she nodded.

"That boy who helped you out escape the burning mansion? That was me. Habang nakikipaglaban ang lolo at lola mo sa kay Fernando Carpio, di nila namalayan na unti-unti na ring inaatake ang Pierre Mansion. Two of your cousins, Storm and Taylor asked me save to you they couldn't do it because they too were wounded badly. I did what they told me and ran to your room. There I found you crying in a corner like a prey waiting for the predator to eat you whole. The man had a gun but his back was turned on me. You know what? That was the first time I held a gun. I was 10 years old back then, scared to even try but nevertheless, it could bring you to safety. I took the revolver my father gave me and with the first shot, I was able to hit him on the shoulder, the second was straight to the head. I was able to bring you out of the house and your brother just came with some back-ups. He came late though with your parents. Your uncles and aunties were already dead. As I handed you back to your brother, I ran as fast as I could to your cousins but I wasn't able to see them anymore. Though the traces of their blood was still on the floor." silence filled the whole room and we remained that way for a few minutes.

"And then the Moon and Wolf Story you shared during the camp. I'm the wolf avi, you're the moon. The wolf is inlove with the moon and everytime it cries for a love it would never touch. I thought I could never reach you or find you again but here I am." I kissed her lips softly. Di nagtagal ay may pumasok sa loob ng silid.

"Kuya." tawag niya sa kanyang nakatatandang kapatid. Kasama niya sina Storm at Taylor.

"Avianna, I forgot to introduce to you, your long forgotten cousins. Storix Mason Pierre and Tayson Lourd Pierre. They survived the attack." ngumiti ang dalawa sa kanya at inalok naman niya ito nang isang yakap. "I knew your memories would eventually come back. But you healed earlier than what we've expected and we did not see it coming. We didn't knew you were coming to the ancestral home often." pagpapatuloy ni kuya Zero.

"Yeah we're alive! When Grandmama and Grandpapa died they had already written a last will and testament stating that each child would get the same, equal amount and because both of our parents died, the inheritance was given to us so we had our fair share of partakes." sabat naman ni Storm.

"We didn't bother introducing ourselves but we were still watching you from a far." sabi naman ni Taylor.

"So what happened to the School? The students, the teachers and...the Director?"

"The school is now closed and is restricted. Investigation is still on going. The students were fetched by their parents and the teachers were given free tickets to a holiday vacation with their families. They were advised to have time for rest and eventually recover from the emotional and mental damage the incident had caused. And as for Alonzo Traditore, he was used by Leonardo Valdemore as a puppet to control Night Sky Academy. Leon was the one who killed Alejandro and Alonzo had no other choice but to follow his orders. When you were kidnapped, he was the one who placed a tracking device on you which made our search a bit easy. He's not that bad at all. Maybe he was just forced to do it."

Yeah, people commit mistakes and one of the worst mistakes is trusting someone that would later on stab your back. So much for power.

"And about your uncle, Thunder..." napatingin ako kay kuya Zero nang tawagin niya ako.

"When my dad and your father ran after him, he almost escaped to the other side of the wall. Sadly, one of his own men thought he was an enemy and he was shot dead." hindi ako makapagsalita sa kanyang sinabi. Nabiktima si tito Leon nang sarili niyang tauhan. Mahirap man tanggapin pero siguro iyon na rin ang katapusan niya at sa lahat ng gulo na nangyari.

"I'm sorry." tinapik niya ang balikat ko.

"There's no need to say sorry kuya Zero. He chose his own fate. And now, he ended upon his downfall."

I guess his anger and pride brought him to the edge. Never in history that a person was healed by hate.
