Chapter 14 - The Moon and The Wolf

Thunder's POV

"Very good number 6! You've done it well." sabi ng trainor namin habang binabantayan ang mga girls sa kanilang pag-ayos ng tent. Looks like my buddy, Raven readily earned favor in the trainor's eyes.

How could she not? Within half an hour she was able to build her tent, gather some twigs for a fire and cook a meal for two. That's a pretty impressive performance for a neophyte like her.

Kaming mga lalake ay nakaupo na lang sa sarili naming mga tent dahil nauna kaming matapos sa mga babae. For the whole duration ng camp kanya-kanyang assignments at schedule sa mga gawain.

"This camp will officially open early in the evening so gather around campers. This day will be assigned to team A. Kayo na bahala sa lahat at kung ano ang gagawin. I expect to have a bonfire tonight." after he said a few things we were sent off to finally have some rest.

I returned to my tent only to find Raven sitting on a hammock under the tree. She was busy reading a book when she noticed me coming.

"Team D is assigned on the last day of the camp. What are your plans captain?" she said, still holding the book in her hands.

"Just give me some time to think. I'll just tell you when I made up my mind."

Malakas ang tunog ng musika at malamig ang simoy ng hangin. May nagtatawanan, nagkukwentuhan at ang iba ay nagmumuni-muni.

"Gather around campers." Tawag ni sir Franco nang makitang handa na ang bonfire. "Thanks to team A for the preparations. Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, tonight is the night for you to meet and know more about your co-campers, teammates and buddies."

Speaking of buddy, di ko nakikita ang babaeng yon. Saan na naman kaya napunta ang isang yon.

"We intended this opening night to be simple and not so formal. Matapos sabihin ang schedule at rules sa buong linggo ay magkukwentuhan na lang tayo."

"Gathering around, feeling cozy and telling stories in front of a bonfire is a great way to start this camp. Nice very nice." Jazri said while leaning on his chair. I agree though.

"So anyone who knows some good stories?" tanong ni teacher Macy habang umuupo sa harap ng apoy. Nagsimula na silang mag kwentuhan ng tumayo ako para umalis.

"Bro saan punta natin?" Tanong Harris na nakatagpo ko sa daan habang may kaakbay na babae. Tss di talaga mauubusan ang isang to.

Nang makalapit na ako sa may railings ay pinagmasdan ko ang paligid at kalangitan. The moon and the stars are billions of lightyears away yet they look so perfect together. I stared at the moonlight reflecting on the calm sea.

Maya-maya may narinig akong click ng camera lens sa di kalayuan. Nilingon ko iyon at nakita ang isang babaeng may hawak na DSLR. Kinukuhanan niya ang napakagandang tanawin ng Tagaytay.

"Enjoying the view?" tanong niya habang kinukunan ulit ito. Di ko masyadong maaninag ang kanyang mukha dahil sa madilim na paligid but I knew she was gentle.

"Have you heared of the story of the Moon and the Wolf?" tumingin siya sa akin pero nanatili akong tahimik.

"They said that many decades ago, the wolf was a silent creature. They were very silent that it made them very skillful in hunting and catching their preys. One day, as the alpha was watching over the pack, he saw a bright light that came from the northern skies. He was very fascinated. He stared at the light that he rarely sees. To him it was beautiful, unique."

I watched her as she described every feeling, detail about the wolf she was saying. Like she was there when it all happened.

"Because of this grand feeling he felt deep within, he started to bark, to make a sound so noisy that it awakend the others. That was the first time he made such a sound, a noise. He then went on and followed that light. But then, realizing that he wouldn't be able to reach it, he made a sound louder than before. Until it faded." She paused for a while to sit. Still holding the camera in her arms and was adjusting the lenses.

"Then what happened next?" She looked at me then back at the screen of her camera.

"Since then, the wolf was believed to make a sound everytime it sees the light. The End." she ended the story and quickly took a snap of the moon and stars.

"That's it? Why are you even telling me this nonsense?" I asked feeling disappionted that the story just ended like that.

"Tss. I knew you were getting curious of what might happen to the wolf but sadly the story ends there."

"Lame." I said walking back to where the bonfire was.

I know the moon-wolf story is lame but you'll have a deeper understanding when we get there hahahaha
