Jack huffed as he made his way back towards his apartment. He had went out to go shopping to get gifts for his girlfriend Signe. Jack had bought what felt like thousands of pounds of items in his bags. He could barely even carry one of them with his two bare hands.
"Fuck, I gotta rest for a minute." Jack mumbled as he made his way towards a nearby bench.
But then Jack quickly realized that he couldn't rest. He had promised to be home by 4:50. He didn't have time to sit around. He sighed and continued his way.
Something caught Jack's ears that gave him the perfect amount of urge to freeze. He heard something- nono... someone. It was a faint sniveling noise; too quiet to be human. But at the same time, it was human.
Jack couldn't comprehend what it could be in his mind, but it was coming straight from the bench. And yet, nothing was there. Not a single speck of life to be seen. But somehow the closer he got to it, the more amplified the cries were becoming. They led all the way down beneath the bench.
Jack cocked his head to the side confused. Hesitantly, he knelt down on his knees and flattened his two pale hands down on the bitter cold concrete, getting a better look underneath the bench. What he found, made him gasp.
A tiny little girl, who had to be only about an inch tall and twelve years old, was curled into her knees, shivering and whimpering silently to herself. Her clothes were baggy and torn all the way down to her bare feet. Her skin was pale like Jack's, and her eyes seemed to match the color of the cloudy snowy sky. Her skin was as thin as a piece of paper; her bones popping out of her flesh every inch of her body. Her hair was pulled back in a loose pony tail, with two wide and long strands of hair dangling along each side her face. She had cuts everywhere; Some Jack couldn't tell if they were intentional or not.
Jack stayed still, not wanting to scare the little girl in front of him. In the calmest and quietest way he possibly could, Jack spoke to her.
"Hey... ye alright there little lass?"
The girl lifted her head shakily, staring at Jack hopelessly. Her eyes squinted at him and twitched occasionally. What suprised Jack although, was the fact that she didn't seem scared of him- not that he wanted her to be that is...
She tilted her head to the side slowly. Jack could hear her rough breathing as he could only assume she had terrible asthma.
"Jesus Christ what happened to ya...?" He mumbled.
Jack knew he couldn't just leave the little girl here. That would be just as cruel as putting down a healthy young dog. So without thought, Jack gently scooped up the girl into the palm of his hands, and placed her up against his upper chest to try and emit any possible heat to her. He looked back down at his bags and swore to himself. He couldn't take the bags with him without having to put the girl down somewhere. The only possible place he could put her in was his tight pant pockets, but God forbid he would ever do that to her.
Jack hasily pulled out his phone while holding the girl in his other hand. He dialed a friend's phone number whilst keeping her in his sight constantly.
"Hey Felix."
"Hey Jack, what's up?"
"I need you to come pick up some bags I got down the street from your place."
"Okay, I'll be there soon. But why?"
"I can't tell you anything right now. Just get here A.S.A.P."
"Alright, see ya soon dude."
"See ya."
Shortly two minutes after their call, Felix arrived to pick up Jack's bags. Against his own will, Jack hid the girl beneath the bench again to keep Felix from finding her. Jack simply wouldn't have the time to explain what she was. He didn't even know what she was in the first place.
After Felix's car was out of Jack's sight, he bent over and grabbed the small girl again, who's condition only seemed to have gotten ten times worse over the span of just five minutes.
Jack ran his way back to his apartment, ignoring all that was around him except the precious tiny girl he held in his hands. People driving down the road looked at Jack like he was a madman, but he could care less what they thought about him; He had a life to save.

Jack placed the girl onto his bed carefully. Her eyes were half open and still shaking despite her body's struggles to gain warmth. He watched her actions as his eyes were filled with nothing but curiosity and care. She began nibbling on Jack's pillowcase slowly, setting him into realization she was hungry. He ran into his kitchen grabbing the first source of food he could possibly find- bread.
He tore open the bag of wheat as he raced back to his room finding the girl in the exact same position she was before.
"Hey there girl..." Jack whispered, grabbing her attention.
"... I got you something to eat~." He held out a piece of torn bread to her.
"Ye want it?" Jack asked rhetorically.
The girl let off her grip on the pillowcase, and wearily reached out for the bread Jack held by his two fingers in front of her. Jack held onto the bread till he was satisfied that the girl's grip onto it was strong enough for her to hold.
Almost exactly as his pillowcase, she then began nibbling onto the fresh wheat bread. Jack watched her intently, never setting his vibrant baby blue eyes off of her tiny metallic grey eyes.
"What's your name?" Jack asked out of the get-go.
The girl froze. Her head looked up at him slowly.
"My name?" She said in a raspy whisper, catching him by suprise.
He nodded his head, trying to keep a steady pace with her.
"Yes." Jack replied.
She was silent for a minute as he remained pateinly waiting for a response, before she answered him.
"(Y/n)."
Jack smiled brightly.
"That's a lovely name you have."
She smirked for a moment, looking down shyly. Jack rubbed at (Y/n)'s frozen head with his thumb for a minute, emitting purs out of her, before letting her go back to eating her bread.
"Well, my name i-" (Y/n) cut him off.
"Jack."
He looked at her with wide eyes, and she smiled back at him.
"Y-... you know my name?"
(Y/n) giggled fraily.
"My hero."
