Frozen Red (SHORT)

You had a chill go up your spine as the freezing wind crawled its way through your layers of clothing and up your back. Your boots smushed the inches of snow beneath your feet with a harsh scrunch by each step. With a glove-covered hand, you constantly had to have one hand or the other holding your hood up. One slight loosening of your grip on your hood and it would've completely flipped back in under a second's worth.

Your teeth chattered with a frosted red nose as the wind pounded onto your unprotected face. You had underestimated the news reports of the storm coming in, and now you regret bringing your scarf with you.

Then, a rush of warm air swarmed over you, and you froze still. You took a deep breath... and sighed.

"Instead of making a dramatic entrance every time I come out here, could you just say hi?"

"Whether or not I say hi, I'm gonna come in dramatically somehow! Footsteps, cracking trees..." Jack listed off a few other things as you rolled your eyes.

"Alright alright, I get what you mean, but, y'know! It freaks me out!" You retorted, cutting him off as you turned around to face him.

Jack was playing off a goofy smile, seeming completely unfazed by the blizzard arousing you two as your minuscule form was barely freezing stiff on the ground.

"How much do you want to bet you'll get over it eventually? I'll be damned to put my whole stash into it." He played it off, overly-confident in himself.

"You say it that like it's that easy..." You mumbled so that he couldn't hear.

Jack held out his hand to you.

"Come on up, you look like you're about to turn into a fleshy icicle."

You nodded with a small 'thanks' to him, clawing yourself up to the palm of his hand and resting your back against his large digits.

"The hell are you doing out here in the cold anyway?" Jack asked, raising you up to his face as he stood up slowly.

"I could say the same thing for you. But yeah, I just wanted to take a stroll. That was before it got this bad," You gestured around towards the noticeable horrid weather.

He huffed, whiffing your hair back.

"So you just kept walking?"

"Well, yeah! I knew your place was nearby, and it's probably even warmer than my own, to be honest."

"And you think you can walk up to my place whenever you feel like and I'll just let you in like that?" Jack rolled his eyes.

"Yes, the majority of the time at least," You admitted flat-out, to which he couldn't argue.

You already began to feel warmer in his hand, shifting as you felt more comfortable.

"Speaking of which, could we go there now?"

Jack lowered you to his chest so he could see what was ahead of him.

"Sure. The tips of my ears are getting a little frozen-red anyways."

You chuckled at him, to which he grinned at.

"Whatever..."
