“Hold your ground, it’s a tough one this time.”
“Ain’t it always? At least to other teams?”
“No. This is apparently going to be difficult even for us.”
“Aren’t you at all a little worried if it is?”
“Our position is all about handling the difficulties of others, and that includes our own. If we can’t do it, nobody else can. Now hush.”
“#J90, my radar is getting a heat signature… 53 yards southward.”
“Alright, that’s about 50 then. #M89 and #T89, circle 100 yards South to the other side. #F89 and #W89, 50 East. #E88 and I will move out West. #E96, you stay here until each of us sends out our signal, you understand me?”
“Understood.”
Each and every one of these teams had their collective standards with one another. You had those who relied on trust, others on brute, and some on agility. Operation Last Resort was all about playing your part. Everyone in this operation had one precise role they knew they had to do. It was their commander, #J90, that simply directed them on how, when, or where it was done.
All of the Dispatchers reached their locations. North, East, South, and West. The giant was right in the center of the Dispatchers. They all activated their signals, sending out frequencies which alerted one another on area scanners on their arms where each Dispatcher stood.
A distorted noise flared up on everyone's area scanners as a voice tuned in. It was the commander, #J90.
"Now beginning Operation Last Resort. Move forward and surround the target. Keep a distance of 25 meters, and wait for my signal. Over and out."
...
The giant continued to sit and rest. Their hands were covered in cold blood, and the left side of their face was partially frozen from a grenade tossed towards them. Due to this, vision from their left eye was completely dark.
It was considerable hard for them to breathe. The gas, not only making an impact with their skin, had partially been inhaled as well. They could still respirate, but only to a minimal amount. The chloroform also made the giant dizzy, and they struggled to stay awake.
Unlike most giants, they knew that more Dispatchers were undoubtedly going to hunt them down. They just had to gain a little more energy so they could book it...
Then, they heard it. A crunch of a tree branch made the giant shoot their head up like a deer in headlights. That's when they realized, the Dispatchers had already arrived.
The giant stood up hastily, skimming the grounds around them and listening ever so keenly. They had made the mistake for the previous teams by opening their mouth and roaring threateningly- it nearly got them killed. The giant refused to open their mouth, keeping one hand near their face for protection from freezer grenades at all times.
They tried to suppress their instinctive warning growls knowing that it would only allow the Dispatchers to know more directly where the giant was. Unfortunately for the giant, that wouldn't be necessary either way- the Dispatchers already knew where they were.
Once again, another crack reverberated from behind the giant, and the giant's eye widened. They flipped around, turning to see if any Dispatchers were in sight. Nobody could be seen.
Their teeth gritted together as their hands began to clutch and tremble. The Dispatchers were making distractions, and it was pissing the giant off. They bit their lip, getting ready to leap towards the first thing that moved in their sight.
