If there's anything a giant really doesn't have good knowledge of, it's personal space. They have absolutely no clue of how it works, at all. Probably just because they've been so neglected of social interaction. What makes it even worse? A giant who has a strong urge for participating in social interaction, but isn't accepted of it and ultimately feared because of size difference alone.

That's Jack. He's nice, truly, but appearance-wise has society absolutely horrified of him. Although the memories of when we first met one another are now nothing but a blur, I guess I was just the only one who gave him a chance. It took him by surprise when I didn't run away from him at first, but he didn't take it for granted either. But that's a different story.

Going back to the start, despite the many years we've gotten to know each other (preferably as anonymous information to the public), Jack still has yet to understand certain basic human accustoms that a common five year old would naturally learn on their own. Last time I checked, Jack was way older than that, but- that's where I'd refer to what I previously said about interaction.

I've gotten used to his misunderstandment of personal space by now, but the first few occurrences I faced with it are absolute gold to look back to. However, at first, it was absolutely frustrating to deal with and explain. Of course, if you couldn't tell by now, I gave up on that a long time ago.

Jack himself wasn't dumb, not at all; he was actually pretty intelligent. However, all of his knowledge surfaced from hand-to-hand experience. In simpler terms, everything he knew came to him by natural causes, as opposing to how humans would learn most of their knowledge out of school and education. That's not to imply that none of it comes to us naturally, though.

I'm pretty sure I was on my laptop at the time, and I was sitting next to my window. Sometimes Jack would stop by and watch me work, simply out of curiosity. He was most interested in my lessons in mathematics, due to it basically being just a bunch of "puzzles," as he calls them. Technically, he's not wrong; that's really all they are.

Usually, this sort of stuff is just online homework- so no biggie- but on this one occasion, I couldn't be disturbed in the middle of my work. I can't recall exactly what it was that I was working on, but it was incredibly important nonetheless.

To try and keep my thoughts in the clear, I plugged in my earbuds off my phone and turned on some tunes. My playlist of music was all over the place in genres; all it takes for me is if it sounds good, it's good. First few songs that came on were pretty monotone, but assisted in keeping me calm and collected in my work. But then, the more up-beat ones suddenly shifted in, and I was racing through problems left and right. Majority of the problems I still managed to ace, but others were off-point by a landslide.

Then, I finished. Completely aroused by the jams blasting through the tiny speakers in my ears, I logged out of the difficult lesson course, tossing them out of my ears and off to the side. The loud music could still be heard playing in the buds faintly. Finally will all my work off my chest, I slammed my laptop shut, laying back in my chair with a short sigh of relief.

"You got that done quickly."

I screamed, jumping out of my chair and onto the floor. My heart pounded at my chest, and my bones unstably rattled.

"Holy shit Jack!" I shouted, ruffling my hair out of my face with a sweaty palm.

"How long have you been watching me out there for?" I steadied myself to my feet, walking to my window and pushing the white transparent blinds to my sides.

Jack's face completely covered my view looking outside, visibly attempting to suppress a laugh.

"I walked in on you as you opened your work tablet, and you didn't hear me when I called you!... So I just watched," he shrugged, pulling off a mischievous grin.

"I could have died!" I retorted in a dramatic tone.

"That, and anybody could've walked in on me at any moment and seen you right outside my window! These things are see-through, you know," I ruffled the blinds a little, showing them off to prove my point.

"Look- can't you see my dresser through this?"

Jack shook his head.

"No... I can't. I don't have x-ray vision to see completely through your room. It's all the way up until the edge of your bed; it has to be near the window for me to see."

I slapped my hands at my sides.

"And now you tell me this?"

"You never bothered to ask."

I ran my hand across my face in a mixture of irritation and amusement. I huffed.

"Fine, I'll mentally note that. But!- I was in the middle of doing really important work, and you watching over me, while I appreciate it, really isn't necessary all the time. Give yourself a break once in a while. I can handle my own too," I implored to him.

"And, knowing that, also makes me a little uncomfortable, and can disturb me in the middle of my work."

Jack's mouth twitched a little.

"Well, I tried calling to you at the start, but you didn't respond, so I didn't know whether or not to stay or go, so I stayed around," he explained.

"Okay, if I don't respond, then I probably have these in..." I showed him the tiny white earbuds, which his eyes gleamed at.

"... and won't be able to hear you- for the most part- so that alone is a signal for you to 'shoo' off for the time being," I set them off to the side as I spoke.

"That, and I'll just tell you when I want to be alone, alright? But majority of the time, I'll let you watch," I let off a reassuring smile, to which Jack returned.

"I get lonely often anyways, and so do you."

"I mean, that's what keeps us together, right?" Jack chuckled, and I joined him.

"Right, right. But, I'm basically done with everything I needed to get done for now..."

Jack tilted his head to the side with a smirk, holding out his hand towards the window's edge.

"Lake it is then?"

At those words, I hastily tossed my laptop onto my bed, shoving my feet into my nearby shoes. I leapt over the window and landed into Jack's palm, sliding the window shut behind me. I turned back towards him with a goofy smile.

"Lake it is."
