Krystal and Momo screamed as Lonna went flying over the edge of the building. Lonna closed her eyes, she wasn't prepared for someone to catch her. Jungkook's hand had a death grip on the dangling girl. Lonna felt her head spin as she looked down to the ground below her. The students below were all whispers and nervous chatter.
Despite catching her, Jungkook still used Lonna's vulnerability to get what he wanted. "If you dump Min Yoongi, I'll pull you up."
Unfortunately, Lonna wasn't one to let Jungkook push her around, even with death as the worst option. "Then let go." Her voice didn't shake, and she showed no fear to the boy that held her life in his hands. "If you need to use hate to balance out your life, then let go."
Jungkook wiped the bewildered look off his face as he laughed. "You think I won't?" Krystal gasped in fear as Jungkook opened his hand and let Lonna slip a slight bit.
"I really think you're sad." Lonna didn't let his threat faze her. "You still don't understand. Blackmail attempts won't get you love." Lonna could see her words working on Jungkook. He looked so sad as he stared down at her.
"Please don't let go!" Krystal begged.
"Please don't be so cruel!" Momo yelled.
"Lonna..." Krystal hoped the fear in her voice would help Lonna in appealing to Jungkook's softer side. "Lonna is our dearest friend."
Lonna saw the misery on Jungkook's face. "Why? Why do you have so much support around you?" Jungkook's voice cracked with sadness.
"You can too, Jungkook." Jungkook gave Lonna a shocked look, and she knew she had reached him. "You can."
Jungkook turned his head and looked in Momo and Krystal's direction. "Come here and help!" He screamed. They rushed to his side to help Lonna up. The crowd clapped below as Lonna finally landed back on the roof
Krystal and Momo hugged Lonna tight as she stared in Jungkook's direction. Jungkook sat on the roof, breathing heavily. He gave her a guilty look before getting up and leaving. Lonna's eyes followed him.Lonna was completely silent as Krystal and Momo walked home with her, the incident with Jungkook played out slowly in her head. "I think you should tell Suga about this." Krystal was the one to break the silence.
"You definitely should." Momo agreed.
"Though we don't know why he hates Suga so much, this is between them. I will never allow you to be hurt again." Krystal promised.
"Hate." Lonna finally spoke. "Have you ever hated before?" Krystal and Momo both shook their head no in answer. "To be hated by others, must cause such a deep sadness." Krystal couldn't believe Lonna was trying to defend Jungkook's actions.
"But Jungkook almost killed you." Krystal tried to reason with her friend.
"That's why I don't want Suga to know. He'd blame himself. Like what happened with RM." Everything that was said that day floated to her mind. Being hated, being provoked, then blaming himself. Hating himself. Lonna was sure of her decision. "If I can, I have to protect Suga from Jungkook."
"Lonna..." Krystal tried to argue with her again.
"I don't want Suga to feel that again." Seeing her determination, Krystal shook her head in agreement.
Finally at home, Lonna put everything behind her as she sat the table while her mother cooked dinner. The sound of the doorbell rang through the small room. Lonna opened the door. Suga didn't even look at her as he pushed past her. "I'm here for dinner." He yelled toward the kitchen. "Did you save me some?"
"Yes." Lonna said shutting the door and walking back to the dining table.
"Thank you. Please cook fast." Suga said before sitting down.
"It will be done soon!" Pamela's voice rang from the kitchen.
"Thank you, auntie." Suga said. Lonna looked at Suga as she stood beside him.
"Are you okay?" Suga finally noticed her.
"About what?" He asked.
"The destroyed projects."
"That..." Suga was interrupted by Pamela walking into the room, placing a pot of food on the table.
"I was wondering why you weren't here yet." Pamela sat down at the table. " Your father told me on the phone what happened at school. Must have been a Yoongi admirer."
"No way. What do you mean?" Lonna was skeptical of her mother's logic.
"It's very common, to get the attention of someone they like, they do this sort of thing." Suga and Lonna couldn't believe how much it could make sense.
"Doing these things is just a way to get the person's attention?" Lonna asked. Pamela scrunched up her nose as she shook her head. Lonna was surprised with how much her mother was making some sense for once.
Pamela sniffed the air and screamed loudly making Lonna and Suga jump. "I forgot to turn off the gas!" She yelled. Lonna rolled her eyes as her mother ran into the kitchen like a toddler.
"Oh come on, she's such a klutz." Suga laughed at Pamela's antics.
" You two are alike." He said as he looked at Lonna.
"What? I'm not that clumsy!" Lonna berated him.
"No... I meant innocent." Suga said quietly. "You both believe that there aren't any legitimately bad people. That when people do bad, it's an inability to communicate, that's caused them to hurt others."
Lonna sat quietly as he talked. "Some people might feel that kind of thinking is simple, but...I envy you." Lonna stared at Suga, she didn't know what to say. "But even innocent, you still keep secrets."
Suga smiled slightly at the confusion on Lonna's face. "I didn't know noona's charms were so overwhelming." Suga took the chance to bring up what had been bothering him.
"Huh?" Lonna didn't understand what he meant.
"I hear a great looking guy is pursuing you." Suga tried to hide his feelings, as he spoke in a joking tone.
"It's not like that." Lonna tried not to raise her voice, in fear of her mother overhearing. "Don't think too much..."
"Don't brag." Suga stopped the rant he knew was coming by the sound of her voice. "I don't care." Lonna slouched in her chair as a sad look crossed her face. "No one will like you more than I do!" Suga said in hopes to lift her spirits.
Lonna felt her heart race as Suga looked her in the eyes. His stare was intense and demanding as he leaned closer to her. "You're mine." His voice was low and gave Lonna goosebumps. She couldn't stop herself from giggling with happiness.
Suga's POV
Suga walked aimlessly through the woods. He didn't want to admit it but he was scared. He didn't know what way he had come or what direction he had already been. The heavy fog made all the trees look the same. He was lost.
If you get lost...lost in the forest of love. The voice called to him through the darkness. He felt the familiarity and that forced him to follow it. Please tell me that there in the light, you'll need someone there, won't you? A gleam of hope rose in him as a tiny light shined through the darkness of the forest. Suga ran towards it.
Even if there are no short cuts... Suga slowed to a stop as he looked into the light. I really hope the one to show you the way out is me. Suga felt the fear disappear as Lonna reached into the shadows and held her hand out to him.
"Suga." Lonna leaned on the side of the couch as she tried to wake Suga up.
Suga smiled a large gummy smile as he woke up and looked in her direction. It's Lonna. It's my light. Lonna moved a stray bit of hair out of his eyes as he fell back to sleep.
