Misunderstanding

‘If you look at my life.” Lonna thought as she tried on outfit after outfit in front of her full-length mirror.

‘The worst, worst, most awful, lousy and lousiest thing that ever happened to me was being kissed by Min Yoon Gi.” Lonna made faces in the mirror to show how the memory disturbed her.

‘It was the absolute worst, worst, worst thing ever.” She gripped one of her shirts tight against her chest as one thought alone made the memory of Suga disappear. ‘but…today I am going out with Kim Seok Jin.

Please let it be the best day of my life. I have to do my best not to make a fool of myself.’ The smile of confidence faded from her face. “But I am really nervous…”

Jin’s POV

He stood overlooking the river as he shuffled the pair of tickets in his hand. He couldn’t wait for Lonna to reach their meeting spot. He was beyond happy when she had agreed to go, and that happiness had just increased when the day came.

His face fell as his gaze spotted the one person he really would love to avoid. Suga had noticed him staring as he stopped walking in Jin’s direction.

Jin looked away hoping to not encourage Suga in approaching him. Suga was pulled from looking at the other boy when the bird chirped, getting his attention.

He moved quickly when he saw the defenseless bird try and detach itself from the cardboard box it was tied to. Jin watched him run with all his might trying to make it in time. Suga grabbed the bird and pushed the box away just as the fire cracker below it went off.

Jin in shock moved toward him. “Is it ok?” Jin asked.

“Some brat must have done it.” Suga answered gripping the hand that had tossed the box in pain.

“Your hand is hurt.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Suga said before opening his other hand and allowing the small bird to fly away safely.

Jin looked at Suga’s face as he smiled in happiness. Suga wiped the smile from his face as he noticed Jin watching him. “What are you doing here?”

Jin really didn’t want to be rude so he was forced to answer Suga’s question. “I am here for the concert.”

“Never thought a boy scout athlete like you would be interested in this type of music.” Suga teased Jin’s character again. Jin tried to keep himself under control.

“I never thought, after what you did, you were capable of feeling sorry. Especially when it comes to your step sister.” Jin shot back an insult despite trying to stay calm.

“That’s right.” Suga said letting his insult go.

“I must say, no matter who she is with, I’d still do the same.” Jin looked at Suga as he clenched his fist trying his best not to hit him.

“And…whoever she chooses, I’ll will do what I need to do to change that decision. She’s mine.”

Jin couldn’t help but grin at the utter idiocy of Suga’s words. “Strange. Hearing those words, I somehow feel better.”

Suga ran his tongue across his bottom lip trying to hide the fact Jin had made him angry. “Is that so?”

“It could be because I am the basketball captain. No matter who is playing, if it is an opponent or friend…I only want to get that ball, and score.”

“Don’t forget, I know how to play too.” Suga said before a little boy carrying a cardboard box like the other one caught his eye. He ran away from Jin as he went after him.

Suga’s POV

He rushed to grab the boy by his arm as he turned him around to face him. “If you do this kind of thing to a bird again, I’ll get a bigger firecracker and blow you to pieces!” He scolded.

“Do you hear me?” He snatched the box from the boy and gave him leave to go. The boy didn’t waste any time in escaping. His only problem was he kept looking behind him to see if Suga was chasing him. “Get lost!” Suga yelled.

Once the boy was gone, Suga turned his stare back to where he had left Jin.

His heart raced in his chest, as he saw Lonna start running to him. “How can you bully such a little kid?” She screamed at him.

Suga was dumbstruck at her misunderstanding. “What, did your mother never teach you manners?” Lonna brought up the one person Suga hadn’t thought of in years. It stuck a nerve in him.

“Now you understand, I was so bad, that’s why she left me behind.”

“What I don’t understand, is how someone can be proud of themselves for doing bad.” Lonna ignored the fact that her words were hurtful.

This was the first she had even seen Suga since he had hurt her, so she didn’t feel bad in doing the same. Jin tried to stop the girl before she could say something he knew she would regret, but he was too late. “I guess that is how you handle your type. Treat them the same as garbage.”

“Lonna. Please stop.” Jin tried as Suga stared at him.

He was angry at Jin for trying to take up for him. As the other two looked on, Suga reached his hand out to the scarf Lonna had tied around her neck and quickly ripped it off.

“Don’t touch me!” She screamed to him before he started to walk away. He came to a short stop beside Jin.

“Lonna dressed up just for you because of this date. I have to admit I am jealous.” Suga drew the scarf up in Jin’s face.

“However, I’ll take this scarf to deduct points.” Suga’s devilish gummy smile moved onto his lips as he looked Lonna up and down. “Lonna looks so cute.”

Lonna looked after him in disgust as he walked away. “Enjoy the concert.” He raised her scarf above his head and waved it back at them.

“Don’t forget that I ruined your date.” Jin was finding it hard not to want to chase him down as he tried to calm himself.

Suga sat on the steps to the stage and used the scarf he had stolen from Lonna to cover the painful wound on his hand. “Min, thanks for making the stage look perfect.” The leader of the singing group said to him in praise.

“Don’t be so mushy. Tonight, you better bring good music. No bullshit.” Suga said still trying to tie the scarf properly.

“Do you remember when we did this together? It wasn’t easy getting started, but you gave up your spot to another musician. If you hadn’t, you would be up here with us tonight.” The leader was smiling at the memories of him and Suga together.

“I am horrible at singing. I was right to give up.” Suga said smirking at him. As the band sat there one of the members bent over, his face twisting in pain.

“Fang, are you ok?” The leader asked.

The member hid the pain from his face. “Fine.”

The cheers got louder as it was time for the concert to start.
