About half way up the mountain, Jin was now leading the pack, with Suga following closely behind. Keun-suk kept right behind Suga as they trudged up the mountain side. The whole team ran quickly as they went across the small bridge.

It wasn’t until they were almost at the top that everyone but Suga, Jin, and Keun-suk started to lose steam. RM stopped in the middle of the track and leaned against Taehyung, who was bent over trying to catch his breath. Jhope and Jimin joined them shortly after.

Jin looked over his shoulder to see Suga and Keun-suk gaining on him quickly. He fought against the pain in his legs to try and keep his lead. To keep first place, I need to go all out.Having Suga on my tail is expected, but why is Jang so energetic? He asked himself as he hoped over the rocks that laid on the trial. All three men cleared the obstacle like it was nothing.

Suga ran with only one goal in mind, to beat everyone. He refused to be beat this time. After clearing the part of the trail that was filled with trees, he looked in front of Jin and saw a small dip in the mountain side that he could use to pass. “Auntie, watch out!” He yelled.

Being caught off guard, Jin stopped running and turned to see Suga running straight at him. To his surprise, Suga shoved him as he passed. The push made Jin lose his balance and stumble back. Keun-suk also stopped running and reached down to help Jin up. “You alright?” He asked concerned.

“I’m fine. I can do it.” Jin lightly shoved him away and started running again. Suga didn’t stop as he crossed the bridge that took him to the overlook at the top of the mountain.

Once his feet hit the hard wood platform, he finally allowed himself to catch his breath. Jin came up beside him just a short while later. They both stood looking at the view. As soon as Keun-suk came on to the platform, he rushed up to Suga and pushed his back hard into the railing, he wasn’t controlling the anger he was feeling. “Min Yoongi.” Suga’s face showed the surprise he felt towards Keun-suk’s action. “What are you doing? Don’t you know how dangerous that was?”

Suga rolled his eyes. “Was he hurt? No. If I said it was an accident, would you believe me?” Suga yelled back.

Keun-suk tightened his grip on Suga’s jacket. “So, this is your sportsmanship?” Suga was biting hard on his bottom lip, trying to control himself. “Do anything to win?”

“Whatever you say!” Suga tried to not let what he was saying get to him, but he was finding it hard.

“I believe Suga!” Jin cut in. Keun-suk gave him a confused look. “Teacher, I believe Suga.” He repeated. “He’s not someone who only cares about winning and nothing else.” Keun-suk noticed that Suga didn’t dare look at Jin as he took up for him. “If in the process to win, there are unavoidable injuries and dangers, I believe he would try his best to minimize them.”

Keun-suk slowly let go of Suga and backed away. “I don’t know why you’re so sure, but I think…you were once someone he tried to minimize danger for, but still got hurt.” Jin said nothing as the image of Suga kissing Lonna came back to his mind. Keun-suk gave Suga one more look before he turned to go back down the mountain. Suga huffed loudly as he looked back at the view.

Jin walked quietly up beside him. “Suga…you’re very different today.”

“Am I? Different how?” Suga asked.

“Not cool.” Jin said as he stuck his thumb up. “Not charming.” He stuck his next finger up. “Ill mannered.” As he stuck his finger up, Suga turned and got in his face.

“Foolish?” He said angrily.

Jin couldn’t help but laugh. “Correct. And very foolish.” Suga backed up a bit and looked away from him. Jin crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Why, in front of Teacher Jang, do you seem do insecure?” Suga gave him a warning look, before turning to walk away. “Hey!” Jin yelled to stop him. “I’m not used to seeing an unconfident Suga. I doubt you’re used to it either.” Suga just nodded his head before leaving Jin behind.

Lonna’s POV

Jisoo and Lonna sat over by where they would build the fire, while Seungwan gathered the wood together. “Can you bring me the coals?” Lonna asked her. Seungwan stopped picking up the sticks and grabbed the two bags. On her way, she kicked the bottles of water over.

“Was Jin looking for someone to help out or screw up?” Jisoo snapped as the water spilled out of all the bottles. Seungwan’s head lowered in a defeated gesture.

“Jisoo, don’t say that.” Lonna scolded.

Jisoo ignored Lonna as she stood up and walked in front of Seungwan. “You have a one-sided wish for someone you met once. A one-sided wish for Lonna and Suga to be your friends. Now you have a one-sided wish to join our club. Why do we have to accept your one-sided wishes?” She couldn’t hold back her feelings anymore.

Feeling bad for her, Lonna placed her hand on Seungwan. “Seungwan.” The girl looked up at Lonna, the tear evident in the corners of her eyes.

“Jisoo…” Seungwan leaned to whisper over Lonna’s shoulder to the girl behind her. “Thank you. You’re also a good person that doesn’t tell lies.” To Lonna’s surprise, Seungwan reached into her pocket and held out a gold wrapped chocolate towards Jisoo.

Jisoo looked at the small thing in Seungwan’s hand with disgust. “I hate chocolate.”

“Oh.” Seungwan sounded so small and weak as she slowly closed her hand back around the offering. “I’ll go wash the fruit then.” She said sadly to Lonna.

Lonna waited until she left out of ear shot to turn towards Jisoo. “Jisoo…”

“I don’t like her.” Jisoo defended herself. “Have some awareness. Being kind to an enemy is being cruel to yourself. Haven’t you ever heard that?”

“I’ve never thought of Seungwan as an enemy.” Lonna said.

“I’m not trying to scare you. But my instincts tell me don’t let Seungwan get close to Suga.” Jisoo said. “You want to get yourself hurt, then be ready for the consequences.” After feeling like she had said enough, Jisoo went over to a nearby rock and sat down.

Lonna for a moment wondered if she should trust what Jisoo was saying.No. I’m still worried, I should go check on Seungwan. Jisoo rolled her eyes as she saw Lonna start to walk in the direction Seungwan had left.

Seungwan’s POV

Seungwan sadly rolled the wrapped chocolate in her hand. “So…there are people who don’t like chocolate, and don’t like Seungwan.” Little did she know Suga was walking down the path behind her. Hearing her voice, he stopped and looked at her. Part of him felt bad as he saw the sadness on her face, but regardless, he attempted to walk away. “The feeling of being disliked is terrible.” Suga stopped to hear what else she had to say. “Maybe after this retreat, I should just give up. Even though I wanted to be their friend, it can’t just be one-sided.”

Feeling like maybe he should apologize Suga moved closer to her. “Seungwan.” Suga calling her name startled her and when she went to stand her foot slipped on a patch of wet grass. She lost her balance and fell backwards, into the river below.
