Lonna kept looking down the hospital hallway, looking for any sign of the doctor. Noticing her nervousness, Suga walked over to her and crouched down taking her hand in his. “Mom fainted…because of me.” Lonna said sadly.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.” Lonna wanted so badly to believe in Suga’s words, but it was hard.
After running around the corner, Mr. Min saw Lonna and Suga sitting in the hall and rushed over to them. “Yoongi!” He yelled as he ran. Suga stood up from Lonna and walked towards his father but making sure not to leave Lonna too far behind. “Where’s Pamela?” Mr. Min asked.
“She’s being diagnosed.” Suga answered.
Seeing the state of depression on Lonna’s face, Mr. Min crouched down beside her. “Don’t be sad. Pamela will be fine.” He said trying to comfort her, but when Lonna looked into his brown eyes, she felt nothing but guilt. Just as Lonna was about to tell him what all had happened, the doctor and his nurse came down the hall to them. “Doctor, how is she?” Mr. Min asked.
“It was caused by fatigue. She has minor anemia and sleep deprivation. Nothing to worry about.” Lonna felt relief for the first time in what felt like hours. “But let her rest awhile.” They all nodded their heads in understanding. “It will be good for her and the fetus.” The look of utter shock crossed all their faces.
“Is it for real?” Mr. Min asked excitedly after the shock quickly wore off.
“You didn’t know?” The doctor asked. “She’s in her 13th week.” Mr. Min looked at Lonna and Suga happily.
“Yoongi. Lonna. I’m about to be a father.” His happiness was not shared by the two kids next to him. They both felt nothing but scared. The situation that they thought had been fixed, had now gotten more complicated and they weren’t sure what to do now. “Thank you, Thank you.” Mr. Min said as he shook the doctor’s hand enthusiastically.
A bit Later…
Mr. Min stared up at the clock as he sat at the registration desk filling out Pamela’s information. Just as he tiredly placed his head on the table to wait for the nurse to finish, Suga walked up to him. “Yoongi, is Pamela awake?” He asked.
“Not yet.” Suga responded.
“Sir, your paperwork is done.” The nurse informed him.
“Okay, I understand.” He said getting up. He looked happily at his son. “Let’s go. Pamela and Lonna are waiting for us. And Pamela’s baby, too.”
Suga had debated whether what he was about to do was the best thing, but he decided that lying was the worst option. “Dad. There’s something…”
Seeing his son with such a serious face confused Mr. Min. “What is it?”
Suga bit his bottom lip nervously. “Auntie said she doesn’t want to marry you.”
“Impossible.” Mr. Min said.
“It’s possible.” Suga could feel the guilt hit him hard as he looked at his father’s dumbfounded expression. “Because I fell in love with Lonna.”
Mr. Min started laughing loudly. “Stop joking. I have had enough excitement for today.”
Suga sighed at him. “Dad, I’ve never been more serious. Lonna and I have liked each other a long time. So, auntie decided to support us.” Mr. Min had stopped laughing as he just stared at his son.
Lonna’s POV
She looked over at her sleeping mother as she sat in the chair beside her bed. The worry for her had worn off, now that she could be near her. She gently took her mother’s hand in hers and rubbed her thumb lovingly over her knuckles. Pamela’s eyes started to flutter as she felt someone touching her hand. She smiled brightly at Lonna when she looked at her. “Lonna.”
Not wanting her to get scared, Lonna smiled back at her. “Mom, you’re awake.”
Noticing she was no longer in the house, Pamela was confused. “Where am I?” She asked.
“In the hospital. You fainted.” Lonna said in her sweetest voice possible so she could keep her mother calm. “Doctor said…” She looked down at her mother’s stomach and smiled. “You have a baby in your belly.” Despite the efforts of her daughter, Pamela was at a loss for words as she looked over to her daughter.
Suga’s POV
Surprisingly, Mr. Min had not reacted the way Suga had expected him to. He had kept himself calm and told Suga to walk with him. As they walked Mr. Min tried to wrap his head around the situation. “After she heard, she said she’s moving out with Lonna?” He asked Suga another question.
Suga nodded his head. “I think she was thinking about you, me, Lonna and herself. Our shared future, when she made the decision. But…you guys…” Suga was nervous. “Should get married. I’ll move out.” Suga said making up his mind.
Mr. Min looked at his son with disbelief. “What are you talking about?”
Suga stopped walking and turned to his father. “I’ll move out. I can live by myself. In this share future, there will be a new baby. The baby needs its father, right?” He smiled at Mr. Min. “If I leave, everything will be alright.”
Mr. Min sighed and put his hand on his son’s shoulder. “Stop joking. If you’re not with us, then home will lose it’s meaning. I won’t agree to it.” Suga didn’t feel like arguing was the best thing to do, so he just simply nodded his head in agreement.
Lonna’s POV
Lonna now sat on the bed beside her mother. “Mom, I want you to have your happiness. So…I’ll move back to the apartment.”
“No, I’ve decided to not marry Mr. Min.” Pamela said quickly. She glanced down at her stomach. “Regarding the baby, after it’s born, he can adopt it. This way, he can still be its father.”
Just as Lonna was about to object, Mr. Min angrily entered the room. “You two be quiet.” He said loudly. Pamela was taken back by his outburst as he walked over to her. Siblings with different parents dating, what’s wrong with that? What are you thinking about? Is it what others think or is it my social status?” He noticed Pamela opening her mouth to say something. “They’re bullshit.”
“I just don’t want to cause you trouble.” Pamela said as tears started to fall from her eyes. “And…I don’t want the kids to be forced into accepting an ending they don’t want.”
“So…” Pamela and Lonna could see the pain in his eyes. “You force me to accept an ending I don’t want? And trouble the kids. What’s the difference?”
“I…” Mr. Min walked next to her bed and kneeled beside it, taking her hand in his.
“Pamela, I promised your mother I would make you happy. Even the baby, Yoongi, and Lonna must have happiness.” Pamela couldn’t control her emotions as he spoke. Lonna moved away from the bed and looked over at Suga who was watching from the doorway.
“Honey!” Pamela said as she hugged him and let her tears fall freely.
“We should be thankful.” Mr. Min said breaking the silence. “That they aren’t biological siblings.” He pulled Pamela away from him to look into her face. “But if the baby is a girl, we must keep Jungkook…” Pamela stared at him. “Very very far away from her.”
Despite her emotions, Pamela laughed and lightly smacked him in the arm. “You’re talking nonsense again.” Hearing their laughter, Lonna walked over to the door and slowly shut it to give them some privacy. She walked silently down the hall with Suga. I think I will never forget what happened today. She thought. In my lifetime, I’ll never, ever forget it.
