Why Not Slap Me?

I woke up in the meadows of green grass.  I was easily hidden in the high grasses.  When I got a whiff of the air, I smelt sunflower seeds.  A soothing breeze blew past me, making me feel at home.

I got up and started to twirl, but I ran into a sunflower.  The flower was strong like steel, not bending or even shaking when I ran into it.  Although, it felt real to touch.  Don’t think that I actually ate the plant, or tried to, but it even tasted real.  When my tongue touched the bitter liquid that just about every plant has, one of the giant leaves that the sunflower had slapped me.

“Sorry,” I muttered, wiping my cheek that was still stinging from the impact.  While I was walking away from the rude flower, I ran into a Sunflower.  “What is up with all of these Sunflowers popping up everywhere?” I yelled at the sky.  One of the giant leaves of the new Sunflower slapped me.  “Ugh!  Is that all you got?”  The leaf slapped me again.

“Fine, I’ll leave,” I growled as I tried to rub the stinging out of my cheek that must be red.  While I walked away, I ran into yet again another Sunflower.  “Oh you have got to be kidding me!” I yelled.  Guess what the Sunflower did.  Yes, it slapped me.  I glared at it. “I didn’t do anything wrong!”  It slapped me again.  I decided to just stop talking and not open my mouth, walking away.  I looked were I was going, avoiding all of the Sunflowers that popped into my way.

I turned to look at all of the Sunflowers that I passed and saw that they all were facing me.  I quickly looked in front of me to make sure that I didn’t run into any more, but saw that my path was crowded by hundreds of Sunflowers.  They were all staring at me, as if waiting for me to make a mistake so they had a reason to slap me.  I smiled at the idea of actually caring about what the Sunflowers thought of me, but then the closest one slapped me.

“Ow,” I whispered.  Another one slapped me.  “Ow!  What is your problem?”  of course, I was slapped again. “Ow, hasn’t your mother ever told you to use your words?” The next Sunflower slapped me.  “Use your words!” I yelled; rubbing my peeling cheek as another leaf swung at me.  I ran through the Sunflowers, ignoring them as they turned to watch me.
