“What? It might not be a human,” Apricot whined, almost blowing our cover. I peeked above the hedges to see a boy dancing. It wasn’t that professional dancing with music, more like dancing randomly and happily when you win the lottery. After a few seconds it clicked in place, it was Alex.
“Um, hello?” Apricot asked like all of the people in horror movies that are killed first.
I quickly grew a bush in front of me and hid behind it.
“He didn’t even hear me, no need to hide,” she corrected me. “Who is he anyway?”
“Alex,” I mumbled. “Please tell me that he didn’t hear me,” I pleaded, hoping that he didn’t hear me when I said that I liked him. That would explain why he was dancing if he liked me.
“Nope, but I need to know who this Alex person is. Hold on, let me get his attention,” she then screamed loudly as if she broke a nail. I covered my ears to block out a little bit of the sound from killing more brain cells.
“Is this necessary?” I asked, hoping that she would give up. She clearly already got his attention.
“Yes it is. HI ALEX! How are you? Why were you even here? Was it some sort of ritual?” she asked. I just now notice that she as a habit of asking a ton of questions at once.
I continued to stay hidden behind my bush.
“No, I was just going on a walk,” he answered uneasily.
“Are you sure about that Alex? I know when people are lying. Are you sure you weren’t watching Floret?” she seemed to be torturing him with embarrassment. The last thing that I would want is for him to know that I was hearing the whole thing. I wanted to hide behind a bush and stay there forever, so that was exactly what I planned to do.
“I’m sure…” he answered. I heard his feet shuffle.
“Okay…well I’m gonna go. Then later, I want to talk to you though. I tend to scare people off when I give them the talk so don’t lie. Bye!” Apricot said. I took a deep breath, glad that she wasn’t going to go all Aphrodite on me. “Actually, no.” Holly Hera, do the fates hate me? “Floret come here now!”
I slowly got up from the bush like I was on an elevator. “Good girl, now do you know this boy?” she asked.
“Seriously?” I asked. Like, I told her that I liked him and I even told her that it was Alex. How would I not know him?
“Yes I am,” she looked me straight in the eye, not showing any emotion of joking.
“Sure, I know him,” I glared at her, wanting her to fall down unconscious and for him to just be an illusion.
“Okay, good. Oh my gosh! I can’t handle this! Your faces are priceless! Just get over it! We all know that you like each other. Go out on a date sometime, geez!” she exclaimed, almost falling over from laughter. Sage and her obviously have something going on, why is she telling me that I need to get over it when she is in the same position with Sage?
