Flirting Fail

We started jogging deeper into the woods, our steps were uninterrupted by roots or branches because I commanded them with my mind to move out of the way.  I know, it is kind of a waste of energy, but I needed the practice, just in case.  I stopped running, sensing something dangerous was coming.

“What is it?” Rain whispered.  A hell hound pounced in front of us to answer her question.  I took out my dagger as an instinct, just in case if it tried anything.

“Wait, Lorry.  I got this.  Just distract it,” Alex focused on the hell hound, I could already see the color draining out of its ears.

“Yo!  You son of a mother!” I shouted at the dog, enjoying the chance to let my sass out.  I have a lot of it, but hate hurting people so I didn’t get the chance often.  I waved my dagger in the air.  “Get the hell hound out of the way!”

The hell hound lazily snarled, looking at us with droopy eyes.  It started to walk forward, but collapsed right when it barely lifted its paw in slow motion.  Its energy was drained by Alex.

“Yeah son!  How is that?” I yelled, impersonating some people from my old school.  I never had the chance to yell that because I couldn’t talk back than; and because I just now remembered how much fun they seemed to be having while they randomly yelled it out.

“Lets keep moving just in case there are more,” Rain cheered.

“Yeah, let’s try to find some more,” I poured sarcasm in my words, not used to trying to do so.  Alex rolled his eyes at me.

“Wow, maybe we should wait so we can invite them over for tea!” Rain said, mimicking my sarcasm.

“Actually, they can’t drink out of the tiny cups,” I sighed.  I liked to play dumb because it was really easy for me.

“True…” Rain saw my point.

We ran until we heard mad laughter echoing through the woods.  Why did we stop running?  I have no idea, but maybe it is just an instinct to stop so you don’t attract the thing if it didn’t even know that you were there yet.

A dark teenage boy came from the shadows of a tree wearing a dark shirt and ripped up jeans.

“Hi, I’m Rain,” Rain introduced.  James stared at her for a few moments.  She moved her arms like Olaf as she said, “And you are…”

“James, son of Hades.  I’m sure my father was quite offended by your insult,” James scolded her, but she didn’t seem to care.

The name seemed familiar so I started tugging on random memories in my head until I came to the one with Cali.  She warned me that here was a psychopath named James, and I am guessing that he is right in front of me.  I laughed, the all-powerful couple was afraid of this weak little boy.

James glared at me, but all I saw was a puppy trying to growl or a kitten trying to roar.  “What’s so funny about being a son of Hades when you are a daughter of Gaea?  Don’t worry, I learned about you from your mother.  Gaea and I are practically best friends,” he smirked, possibly seeing the pain that he caused in me when he tried to say that I was a joke.
