Caves

“Floret,” a soothing voice chirped.  I looked around to find myself in a cave, foreign flowers blossomed on the walls, but even the extra color couldn’t make me feel less creeped out.

“What do you want?” I grumpily snarled, knowing that the aura of home that I felt was just an illusion.  My words echoed against the cave walls.

“Bow down to me, your mother and master,” she commanded.  I couldn’t see her or even make out were her voice came from, so I could tell that just a sliver of her spirit was there.  Her power radiated off the walls.

“I never will,” I resisted, unsure of myself.  My stomach started to tingle and I fought the instinct that told me to curl up and hug my stomach.

“Are you saying that you would rather bow down to the gods that have cursed you?” she mentioned.  She had a really good point, but not all of them were mean to me.

“I just don’t know,” I admitted, feeling deeply confused by the opposing sides.

“You were made to destroy, that is all you can do.  Join my side and then you will realize that it is more like a gift,” she tempted me.

“I rather die,” I spat, fighting the side of me that told me that she was right.  I couldn’t live with myself if I was the cause of the death of anyone of my own.

“You have been stalling for too long, it is about time that you figure out whose side you are on,” Gaea rushed me, hoping that I’ld join her side.

“I just don’t have enough information,” I explained.

“Then let me help you choose,” she smugly laughed.  James walked from the shadows with a blade in hand.

“I could easily kill you right now,” he smirked, eyes wide like a wild man.  I laughed at his confidence, he was in my territory and I had a huge advantage against him.

“So what?” I snapped, smirking with my confidence rising.

James walked closer, laughing at me, saying things about how little that I knew.  I tried to summon a vine to tie him down, but no vine came.  I shook it off and tried to summon a tree to block his way of passage, but nothing grew.  I might as well have been mortal without any powers.

“If you do not join my side, then you can’t control the plants in my cave,” Gaea laughed at the fear that entered my eyes at that moment.

I had no protection, no help, no chance of survival.  “Get away!” I screamed at James, hoping to hurt his ears.  He started to corner me, unfazed by my screaming.  I put all of my energy in one more scream, “GET AWAY!”
