“Get away from me!” Dan grunted as he scrambled away from me. I wanted to summon a root to tie him down so I could convince him that I was not trying to harm anyone, but that would only make him want to get away faster.
“Please understand,” I yelled after him. He continued to try to get away as I walked toward him. “At least try to understand,” I pleaded. Fear was full in his eyes, and I didn’t want to see any more of it so I stopped moving, staring at him. He kept scurrying away from me, than ran away.
“The leaves blow down on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen,” I took a deep breath. “A fandom of isolation and it looks like, I’m the queen.”
I hugged my poetry book to my chest with one arm and kept a blanket around my body with the other. The wind blew furiously at me. “The leaves are swirling like the swirling storm inside. Couldn’t keep it in, Hades knows I tried.”
I wiped a tear on my sleeve before it could go down my cheek. “Don’t let them in, don’t let them see. Be the good girl you always want to be.”
“Conceal, don’t feel. Don’t let them know.” I raised my head up to face the sky. “Well now they know!”
I pointed to the ground, making rose bushes appear. “Let it go. Let it go. Can’t hold it back anymore. Let it go. Let it go. Turn around and slam the door! I don’t care what they are going to say. Let the war rage on, the dirt never bothered me anyway.”
I skipped into the forest. “It’s funny how some distance, can make everything seem small.” I glanced over to the direction of where Dan left. “And the fears that once controlled me, can’t get to me at all.”
I danced around a tree, focusing on it becoming thicker. “It’s time to see what I can do. To test the limits and break through. No right, no wrong, no rules for me. I’m free!”
I focused on making the branches of the tree twist into beautiful patterns. “Let it go, let it go. I’m one with the wind and sky. Let it go, let it go, you’ll never see me cry.”
I was taking my hair down. “Here I stand, and here I stay. Let the war rage on.” I spread my arms out, allowing the plants around me to grow to their content. “My power flurries through the air into the ground. My life is spiraling in bits and pieces all around. And one fear spreads just like an icy blast. I’m ever going back; the past is in the past.”
“Let it go, let it go. And I’ll rise like the break of Dawn. Let it go, let it go. That perfect girl is gone. Here I stand in the light of day. Let the war rage on, the dirt never bothered me anyway.”
