Guess where I was when I opened my eyes. Yep, I was back in the cave. I took deep breath and plopped onto the ground. I heard evil laughter echo through the cave. I don’t care that James already did that about three times before, but it still scares me. At least it is less scary then it used to be.
Instead of showing fear, I showed boredom. “Hello Floret,” he seemed happy to see me.
I waved lazily, wishing that he would drop dead.
“Are you speechless?” he asked, finding my silence funny.
I nodded and ignored his pun. I rather think that I am too dumb to understand what he was saying then think that he was hilarious and can anger me easily.
“My dashing looks has that effect on the ladies,” he combed his fingers through his hair and I gave him a look that practically screamed ‘seriously?’ He ignored me and continued flattering himself. “Too bad, I am way too good for a mute.”
I glared at him, telling him to shut up. I was too good for him and we all know it.
“Why would you be on the side that took away your voice and makes you write stupid poems every day to talk?” he asked. “You do realize that he could’ve just given you your voice without having you do anything for it, right?”
I rolled my eyes and got off the ground, wiping dirt off my bottom. “What? Do you want to fight me?” he threatened. He had no idea how much I wanted to fight him, but I didn’t have a weapon. I walked to the wall and felt it. It was solid stone. I started to walk, having my hand to along the wall so I could feel an exit if there was one.
“Ha, there isn’t a door, I had to shadow travel here,” James laughed at me. I growled at him, but it just sounded like wheezing. “You are pathetic!” he yelled at me.
I kicked the wall, pretending that it was him. The wall only shook a small bit and small stones fell off the wall. This isn’t some simple Narnia-in-the-back-of-the-closet moment; this was just some anger management moment.
“So you do want to fight me? Come at me!” he taunted, spreading his arms out like he was amazing. I picked one of the stones off the floor and threw it at his chest. It lightly bounced off; I didn’t care because I wasn’t trying.
“Oh, so you want to play that way?” he asked. He threw a dagger at me and it sliced my cheek, hitting the wall. I touched my cheek and put my hand in front of me to see that it drew blood. I looked back up at James in disbelief. (Ha! Divergent moment!) I took the dagger out of the wall and used it the carve things into the wall.
“What the Zeus? What are you doing?” he asked.
I ignored him and continued to carve whatever into the wall. UNBREAKABLE: it read. I was proud of my work and rubbed my fingers over it. My fingers smudged the words, making it unreadable.
“Wow, that sure is unbreakable,” James continued to make fun of me. I glared at him; he was really being a jerk. “I don’t see why you haven’t joined the winning side yet, I thought you’d be smart enough to do that.”
I laughed silently. First of all, he thinks that I am smart. Second of all, he thinks that joining Gaea’s side is the smart choice.
“I’m getting tired of your rebellion, no wonder Gaea wants you on your side so bad. You probably could help a lot in the planning and being unpredictable,” he realized. I didn’t understand what took him so long to figure that out. “Just join us already!”
I shook my head a final time and he threw a dagger that deeply cut my neck. I fell to the ground, gasping for air. This unbreakable act was getting hard to play, definitely while I was dieing. Within seconds, I bled out.
