Maya ran out of the school until she couldn't see it anymore. She was walking through the woods thinking.

My crush is a vampire and my ex best friend who's a werewolf almost killed me. Maya pondered.

She kept on replaying the scene in her head. Lucas had protected her and fought Josh despite risking being hurt or killed for her.

Maya remembered when she saw the fangs protrude from his mouth. His green eyes turning red with dark red veins crawling underneath.

She surprisingly didn't feel scared. She knows that underneath the fangs he was still the same Lucas she met on the first day.

Despite everything she concluded about vampires she should run far away. She should expose him. But then Maya realized that she liked him. She didn't care if he was a vampire or not. She liked Lucas.

Maya decided to wait for him at the porch in front of his house. She desperately hoped he was alive and okay.

Lucas sighed as he walked home. She's probably afraid of him now and will tell everyone about him and his siblings. He ruined his chances with the one girl that made him feel what he hadn't felt in a long time.

When he arrived at the house what he didn't expect was a small blonde sitting on his porch.

She was deep in thought when she caught his gaze. Lucas stood there not knowing what to do.

Maya stood up and ran to him. She wrapped her arms around Lucas's torso. Lucas was taken aback before returning the embrace.

"Thank you." Maya whispered. "You're welcome."

"Not just for this. For everything you do for me." Maya confessed. "I'm not afraid of you Lucas."

"Why aren't you afraid? I'm a monster. I killed people Maya." He pulled away from her embrace and turned his back to her.

"I don't deserve you." Lucas declared. "Lucas." Maya stood in front of him again. She placed her small hands on the sides of Lucas's neck.

"Look at me." Maya demanded. Lucas turned his gaze from the ground and back towards her.

"That person that you were back then was in the past. The person that I'm looking at right now saved my life twice already now. The person that I see right now is not a monster. You're everything that I could ever want. I like you Lucas."

Lucas felt speechless when he heard those words. She liked him. Despite every horrible thing he's done in the past she liked him.

Lucas's eyes brightened in happiness and disbelief for finding an amazing girl like her. He leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was indescribable.

Maya tangled her hands through his dark hair while Lucas placed his hands on her waist. Lucas turned his head to deepen the kiss.

After a few moments, they finally released. They pecked a couple of more times. He leaned his forehead against hers. "I like you too." He said softly.

Lucas and Maya's hands were swinging between them as they walked through the woods. Usually it would be scary walking through the woods at night but she feels safe and protected with Lucas by her side.

"So is it okay if I ask you some questions?" Maya questioned. "Ask away M."

She smiled at the nickname he gave her. "How do you not burn in the sunlight?" Maya inquired.

"I have a daylight ring." He showed her the ring on his right middle finger. "So you don't sparkle like Edward?" Maya pouted in fake disappointment. "No that movie was an awful representation of vampires."

"Will you get killed by holy water or crucifixes?" Lucas chuckled and shook his head.

"No we only get killed by a stake through the heart or sunlight." He answered.

"How old are you?" "I'm 98 vampire years old. I got turned in the 1920's."
"Who turned you?" The corner of Lucas's mouth turned down and his eyes swirled with hurt, pain, and endless amounts of guilt.

"I don't wanna talk about it right now." Lucas said, his voice cracking at the end. Maya instantly felt horrible. "I'm so sorry for asking that question."

"It's okay you didn't know that was a sensitive topic for me." Lucas smiled to reassure her.

"I got a question for you." Lucas stated, trying to brighten up the mood. "What is it?" Maya questioned. "Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Maya's heartbeat had quickened.

"I would love to." Maya smiled. He lifted her up, spinning her around. Maya giggled, holding on to his shoulders. He brought her down and met his soft lips with hers.

They walked all the way to her house. Lucas smelt Josh's scent before they even arrived. "Josh is here." Lucas remarked.

The couple saw Josh standing on the porch. Josh had looked up when he smelt Maya's familiar scent. He smelt Lucas's too.

He saw their intertwined hands and he didn't feel jealous anymore. It was more of sadness and guilt for what he almost did.

"Go talk to him. Hear what he has to say." Lucas ordered. Maya could see that Lucas was tense and uncomfortable but he knew that she needed some explanation and closure.

Maya brought his head down towards hers and pecked his lips. Lucas's stiff posture had relaxed. She gave his large hand a squeeze before walking over to Josh.

Maya walked up to Josh. Her first instinct was to slap him so she did. Lucas watched as Maya slapped Josh hard. Lucas couldn't help but smirk. That's my girl, He thought.

"I probably deserved that." Josh said silently. "You deserve a lot more than that Josh." Maya spat.

"Look Maya, I'm really sorry for almost killing you and Lucas. I was angry and I lashed out. I realized that Lucas is way better than I could ever be. I'm leaving town tonight and I couldn't leave without apologizing to you."

"Thank you for apologizing to me. I can't forgive you for what you done but I do hope you can solve your anger issues. Goodbye Josh." Maya declared. She returned the necklace that he gave her. He placed it in his pocket.

"Goodbye Maya." He smiled weakly before vanishing into the night. "That was very brave of you." Lucas said walking up to her.

"I was so angry about the situation that I just slapped him." Maya said. "I'm proud of you for that. I know deep down it was hard letting go of a long time friend."

"It was hard to do but I'm happy that I got the closure I wanted." Maya told him.

Lucas set his hands on the sides of her face and pressed a light kiss against her forehead. "Goodnight Princess, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodnight Lucas." She smiled.

She watched as he walked down the porch steps before closing the door.
