Chapter twenty six

The siblings watched as Lucas piggy backed maya down the stairs with happy smiles on their faces. It was a nice contrast to what they seen when maya was depressed and Lucas with his emotions off.

Lucas set maya down and they greeted the table as they sat down. James had cooked omelettes for breakfast. Lucas and Maya set up their plates and sat down.

"Look I just wanted to say that I missed you guys a lot." Lucas confessed. "Aw Lucas." Vanessa cooed pulling her brother in for a hug. Maya, Cole, and James almost joined in on the hug.

"Alright I get it." Lucas said making them laugh and separate. After they finished their breakfast, Lucas and Maya climbed in his car.

Maya slid her fingers through his intertwining them. Lucas kissed her hand, brushing his finger over it.

Lucas pulled in to the parking lot. Lucas threw his arm around her shoulders kissing her forehead as they entered the school.

People were staring at him weirdly. He didn't blame them since he was absent for three months. All of that time honestly felt like a blur with his emotions off.

Lucas felt Maya stiffen. He followed her gaze and spotted a guy looking at her with anger before walking away.

"Who is that?" Lucas asked. Maya sighed opening her locker. "His Jane is Alex. He tried to kiss me and I told him that I didn't like him and he yelled at me that you were never gonna come back for me." Maya explained pulling out her book.

"He tried to kiss you. I should beat his ass." Lucas spat out. "You don't need to worry about it baby. I only have eyes for you." She pulled him down for a kiss. Lucas smiled into the kiss, placing his hands on her waist.

"Besides I told him to leave me alone and he hasn't bothered me since then." She told him. Lucas kissed her again.

"Okay but just in case he does you'll tell me?" He asked. "I will." She replied. Lucas took her hand and they walked to first period together.

Alex looked enviously at the couple. He pulled out his phone. His boss Charlie was calling him. "How's lucas?" Charlie asked.

"He's doing good. I think they got his humanity back." Alex answered. "Can I ask why you care so much about this guy?" Alex requested.

"We have history together. He would be a great asset to me." Charlie replied.

"When the time comes I need you kidnap maya when I say so. Lucas will try to find her and then I'll handle it from there." Charlie ordered.

"You're not gonna hurt the girl right?" Alex asked. "Do you have feelings for her?" Charlie requested.

"Kind of." Alex looked down. "Well she'll probably dump him once I'm through with him." Charlie laughed maniacally.

"O-okay I'll keep watch. See ya." Alex got chills when his boss talked like that. He was only doing what he said because he was scared of him.

It was finally lunch time. Lucas waited for Maya to leave the classroom. He saw his girlfriend walking over to him.

"How was art class?" Lucas asked. "It was good. I'm almost finished with my art piece." She clasped her hand with his as they walked to the cafeteria.

"That's great. I was thinking we should go on a date this Friday." Lucas suggested as they sat down at a table. "That sounds perfect." She smiled.

"I'm gonna do everything I can to make up the three months of not being with you." Lucas remarked.  "You being here with me is more than enough for me." She played with the hair on the back of his head.

"I'm still going to." He smiled. "If you insist babe." She said with a giggle. School was finally over. Lucas drove Maya to her house.

"I'm going to permanently move to your place. I told my mom about it and she was fine with it. She wants me to check up on her every once in a while." Maya told him.

"Are you sure? Those are still your parents." Lucas said. "I can't look my dad in my face without remembering what he did to you. It's too hard pretending there's nothing wrong." Maya felt tears welling up in her eyes.

"Hey it's okay. Come here." Maya unbuckled her seatbelt and climbed on his lap. Lucas caressed her hair softly while she sobbed against his chest.

He pressed soft kisses against her forehead. After maya stopped crying, she went to her room to retrieve her stuff. Lucas helped carry the big bags. Maya grabbed her backpack and left her bedroom.

Lucas pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road to her new home. The couple walked inside. Cole and James were playing some video game on the tv.

Vanessa was eating the bag of chips watching the two in amusement. Lucas took Maya to their room now.

"Do you need help unpacking babe?" Lucas asked sitting down on the bed. "No I think I got it." She replied. She opened her bag and started to organize her stuff.

After 45 minutes, she was done putting her clothes away. She laid down on the bed exhausted. Lucas pulled her against him kissing her nose. Maya pecked him on the lips laying her head on his shoulder.

"You want me to run a bath for you?" Lucas asked. "Yes please." She mumbled. He tried to get up but Maya pulled him back down. "Cuddle with me for a little longer."

Lucas chuckled rubbing her back in small circles.
