Chapter Fifteen

Lucas was walking in the forest when he heard two heartbeats follow after him. Lucas elongated his fangs and his green eyes turned red.

"I know where you are." Lucas declared. He heard a whistle noise and he caught the arrow aimed at him.

"Is that all you got?" Lucas sped to the perpetrator and threw the gun to the ground.

"I don't want to hurt yo-," but Lucas's grip has loosened and his eyes rolled back against his head as he collapsed on the floor unconscious.

"We got him Shawn." The colleague said. "Excellent bring 2511 to me." Shawn ordered. "Got it boss." The two guys lifted the vampire and threw him roughly in the backseat.

They drove out of the woods undetected. The colleagues arrive at Shawn's workplace and pulled 2511 out.

They opened the jail cell and threw him in there locking the jail shut afterwards.

Shawn waited patiently for 2511 to wake up. Lucas fluttered his eyes open and glanced around the jail cell. He hadn't been here since he escaped in the 50's.

"No." Lucas whispered. Flashbacks of getting cut open and drowning in vervain water had come back.

"Hello subject 2511." A familiar voice had greeted him. He turned around. "Mr. Hunter? Why are you doing this?" He asked.

"Don't you remember? It's for the purpose of medical science. My great grandfather told me all about it and I'm gonna follow his footsteps." Shawn said with a malicious smirk.

"Besides you're a cold heartless bloodsucker. It's what you deserve." Shawn spat.

"Now you either have two options. You can break up with Maya or I'll bring James, Cole, and Vanessa to suffer the same torture as you."

"Your plan will never work. They'll know something is wrong!" Lucas retorted.

"I highly doubt that. Nobody knows about the society except me and a few other people." Shawn said chuckling darkly.

"Now which is it gonna be?" Shawn questioned. "If I do this my siblings won't get hurt?" Lucas inquired.

"Yep no one will get hurt well except my daughter but she'll get over you." Shawn said. "I'll do it." Lucas said silently. There was no way out of this.

He only had one thought in his head. I love you Maya and I'm sorry.

Shawn sent the text and put away the phone. "Good let's get started." Shawn shot another vervain dart and Lucas slackened against the wall.

Maya woke up hoping to feel a cold body next to hers. But when she opened her eyes he wasn't there.

"Lucas?" She asked confused. She checked her phone for any new messages. She opened the text he gave her.

Maya's eyes welled with tears as she read the message. She threw her phone against the wall and pulled her knees to her chest.

He promised me he'd never leave. He said he loved me was it all a lie? Maya thought. Her phone vibrated against the wall.

Maya climbed out of her bed. She picked up her phone to see who it was. It was Vanessa. Maya didn't want to talk but maybe she was going through the same thing.

"Hello?" Maya's voice was scratchy and rough from the tears. "Maya do you know where Lucas is? He never came back home last night."

"He left town." Maya answered. "H-he did what?" Vanessa starts to feel her eyes go glassy.

"He told me that he never loved me and that I was too good for him and he had to leave town." Maya feel tears streaming down her face.

"I have to go Nessa." She hung up the phone.

Vanessa turned to her brother's after Maya hung up on her. "Why the hell would he leave town!" Cole exclaimed.

"I don't get it. I thought he was happy here with us. With her." James said on the verge of crying.

"I don't get it either. Why didn't he let us know? We could've stopped him from leaving." Vanessa sobbed and broke down. Cole and James rushed to their sister and they all cried.
