Woozi

You always knew that you would only have Jihoon, there wouldn't be anyone else for you.

. . .

You and Jihoon had always known each other, your families were close partners in business, so it was inevitable that the two of you were lumped together for extended periods of time. But you both didn't mind it in the slightest, you clicked like a two-piece puzzle and got along famously.

Jihoon had always been cute, his face was nearly perfectly round, and his cheeks and lips always held the colour of a pink rose. His eyes were constantly twinkling with some sort of secret and you often had to brush the bangs out of those beautiful eyes.

Jihoon didn't like to be called to cute, the last time some unsuspecting boy did, he had taught the taller a memorable lesson. While he wouldn't attack like a frenzied animal when parents or girls did it, he would send them his most sinister side-eye possible. They would shut up pretty quickly.

But he didn't mind when you did it. Perhaps it was the reddish hue that he could see on your face whenever you called him cute or the way that your eyes would flash with happiness. Far from upsetting him, it made his stomach turn about in a funny way and his heartbeat to flutter in his chest.

While Jihoon had never been particularly tall or strong, he always did an excellent job of protecting you. At first, you assured him that you could take care of it yourself and showed him, but seeing the worried expression in his eyes, you relented. If it made him happier, you'd let yourself be taken care of; besides, it was nice to be protected by him.

It was also much too amusing to watch him threaten kids double his size and seeing them back down. Others may tell you that Jihoon was the actual spawn of Satan but to you? He was just cute.

. . .

But then something happened, you weren't allowed to see him anymore. You were so confused, why couldn't you see your friend?

This question was met with the cold statement, "No one from Lee Jihoon's family is a friend, they are nothing more than spineless, sabotaging cheaters. Our family will never forgive them."

You couldn't even mention his name without being chastised relentlessly and so you learned to leave him in the treasure chest of your heart. You tried to look for him, but your parents always had someone watching your whereabouts and you slowly grew tired.

. . .

Years passed, and you grew up, got new friends, your family's business slowly developed into a corporation with substantial economic influence, but you never changed.

The only difference was the increase in parties that you were obligated to attend. Little did you know that it was at one of these mundane social gatherings that your life would change irrevocably.

. . .

Your hair was done prettily, and you donned one of the many 'party' dresses that you would never wear on a daily basis. You personally did not particularly enjoy these social functions, it was much too difficult to find someone who was willing to engage in just casual conversation.

One wrong word and the other's face would sour, a sight that you have yet to avoid. It was just tiring, you were always bad at superficiality.

After putting on a pair of heels that would act as torture contraptions near the end of the night you were driven to the party where you would have to suffer through an evening of idle chatter and tittering voices.
