"Are you sure this will work?" Logan whispered through his surgeon mask.
"Yes, now shut up and fake cough."
"Cough."
"What?"
"Cough cough."
"....is that your fake cough?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, nevermind on the fake coughing thing then."
They went to homeroom and their homeroom teacher sighed when she saw Logan and Virgil.
"Virgil," she said, "oh no, did your califragisupexpidolisticotosis spread to Logan?"
Virgil nodded with a sad expression. "Yeah, very contagious. But he should be fine soon. You got my mother's email, right? How I can stay by him the whole day?"
"Yes, I did." She smiled. "Get well soon, Logan."

Logan spaced out during science later that day. After class, Virgil confronted him about it.
Virgil snapped his fingers in front of his face to get his attention. "Lo, you never zone out during science. I know today's been tough on you, but you wouldn't even look at me. What's up?"
Logan shrugged and zipped up his pencil case, closed his binder, and tried to leave. He avoided his boyfriend's eye contact completely.
"You can't just ignore my questions."
"It doesn't matter."
"I know I probably shouldn't ask, but are you still thinking about him? I mean, I'm not being rude, I promise... I just don't want you to miss any notes and we have a test next week, so..."
Logan bit his lip and shook his head. "No. I'm just feeling different today."
"Well, you agreed to have me with you for the whole day. That's why we did all this anyway... Why can't you tell me the truth? You know I care about you. You know I won't tell anyone."
He kept silent.
"I'm being inconsiderate! I know. I'll stop." Virgil looked down at the floor guiltily. "I can't believe how pushy I am... Let's just go to your next class."

Patton strolled through the halls to art class with Elliott next to him. Elliott hated the attention they was getting because of people thinking the two were secretly dating.
Mitchell was angrier than ever at Elliott, and whenever he saw them anywhere with Patton, Patton basically had to protect them.
Elliott wanted to be with Patton so badly, but they just got out of a relationship, and also Mitchell would kill them and Patton if he knew of their feelings.
They were very early to art, so they were the first to show up.
"Patt?" Elliott got his friend's attention.
Patton looked up from his phone and grinned. "Hm?"
"I know I just got out of a relationship but I'velikedyouforsuchalongtimebutMitchellwouldn'tletmebreakupwithhimsoInevergotoutoftherelationshipearlier, so what I'm basically saying is willyoupleasegooutwithmeandifyousayno, pleasedon'tbetooharshonme?"
"YES!"
"Huh?"
"I WAITED SO LONG!" Patton got up from his chair, stood on the table, and struck a pose in victory.
Elliott laughed, extremely relieved. "Okay, cool. Now get down, the teacher could find you doing that!"
"She's 87 and she's been teaching for over 34 years. I think she's given up on kids completely."
"True."

*during science before that conversation*
Whenever Logan looked at Virgil, he saw Virgil obviously, but also...
Thomas.
That stung for Logan.
Thomas had once helped Logan get out of class by faking both their illnesses.
He couldn't tell Virgil that.
