When the party was over and everybody left, Virgil went to check on Logan.
Logan was now sitting up in Virgil's bed. He was deep in thought.
"...wanna go get your stuff?" Virgil asked sadly.
Logan sighed and nodded. "I have to go back to the hospital."
"Text me?"
"Definitely. If I am allowed to."
"Won't you break a rule for me?"
"Probably."
Virgil smiled a little. He was crying, put he gave Logan a hug and a goodbye kiss.

On Monday, Virgil had to go to school.
He spent most of his life without Logan, but now that he was in his life, he couldn't imagine doing anything without him.
Plus, without the popular guy's boyfriend around, Virgil was free real estate for anyone who was interested. Especially Jackson and Landon.
Guys flirted with him and everyone was spreading rumors about what happened to Logan, even though Virgil told them all that Logan was sick.
Life was so... repetitive without Logan around.
It was only a few days and he missed everything.
Logan lecturing him about getting enough sleep.
Logan walking with him after school to his house where they both stayed.
Logan sneaking him love notes or math help during class.
Logan keeping him safe.
"Nice ass!" A senior -- a very familiar senior whistled at Virgil in the hallway.
Virgil had enough.
He had a can of soda in his hand. He could either throw it, pour it, or both. And obviously, he chose to do both.
"What the fuck!"
He walked away, standing tall, after flipping the senior off.
Yet another downfall to not having Logan around was that Virgil was falling back into his previous bad behaviors.
Specifically; aggression and skipping classes.
The whole week was a nightmare with only a few text conversations and two calls with his boyfriend.
On Friday, he was walking home alone. Patton was going to Elliott's.
Before Virgil pulled the key out of his pocket, he squeezed the hand of someone who wasn't there.
All the objectifying phrases thrown at him from the last few days attacked him in that moment that he couldn't possibly be less prepared for.
He had a nervous breakdown right in front of his house -- vulnerable out in the open, where anyone could see.
Usually Logan would be the one calming him down.
