Patton went to Elliott's house after school to study, so only Virgil and Logan were home.

Logan pulled off the surgeon mask and looked off into the void to avoid answering Virgil's questions.

That plan failed.

"Babe... Talk to me."

The nerd shook his head. "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize."

"Let's just do our homework."

"Whatever you want. I'll get us some snacks."

When Virgil left his bedroom and opened the snack closet, his mind was racing. He wanted Logan to feel cared for, but he didn't want to be controlling...

He went back to his bedroom and set the snacks on the table. They both got on their laptops and began their online assignments.

A couple hours passed and the two barely spoke except for when Virgil was dying inside when he did his math homework.

Logan helped him, but when Virgil got extremely frustrated, he pulled the strings of his hoodie and his hood covered his face.

Logan chuckled. Thomas used to do that.

"Calm down, Thomas."

Virgil's heart sank. "Did you just call me Thomas?"

"N-No! I mean, I don't think so... Did I?! Oh my Lord, I am a complete and utter imbecile..."

"No no no! No, I get it! I do! Please don't be upset, I know you didn't mean to!"

But Logan had already bolted out and into the bathroom, making sure to lock the door behind him.

Logan, you moron! This is why people didn't talk to you before you became friends with Virgil!

This is why nobody likes you.

This is why you shouldn't have lived when you fucking overdosed.

Everybody hates you.

He pulled up his sweater sleeves and stared down at the healing scars. Virgil helped him...

You are such a terrible boyfriend! He bent over backwards for you, and what did you do for him? Nothing.

They were right. You really are useless.

Hey, if you miss Thomas so much, why don't you just join him?!

You don't deserve to live.

He splashed water in his face and tried to cool off, but nothing stopped his body from turning weak and his head from spinning and his whole body from burning up.

"Logan! Hey!" Thomas said, waving to his friend. "Can you come over here?"

They agreed to meet up at the fountain. Logan saw him and rushed over. "Hello."

Thomas instantly became nervous in a way that Logan didn't understand. His cheeks turned a rosy pink and he was struggling to get words out.

"Is there an issue?" Logan asked upon noticing Thomas' state.

"No, no issue! Just, um... Can we talk?"

"Of course."

"Please don't hate me for asking, butareyoueithergayorsomeonewholikesguysinaromanticsense?"

Logan was baffled. What was Thomas implying. "Well, if you must know, yes. But please don't tell anybody..."

Thomas sighed in relief. "Do you like anyone? Like, romantically?"

"...what would you say if I said yes?"

"I would ask who..."

"Then no!"

"Oh..."

"Why do you ask?"

Thomas laughed awkwardly and shot his best friend finger guns. "Well, I like someone?"

"Oh. May I ask who?"

"You can ask, but I probably won't tell you since the person doesn't like me back."

"Why not? Is this person a male?"

"Haha, yeah."

"You can trust me."

"Haha, ha.. Ha."

Logan held his hand out to Thomas as a comforting gesture. "You don't have to tell me, but I thought you wanted to talk about it, since you brought it up."

"Ilikeyoualot,likeromanticallyalot."

"What?"

Thomas sucked in a deep breath. "I like you a lot. Like, romantically a lot."

"Oh, thank God! I thought I'd have to confess!"

"Wait... are you saying you...?"

"Yes, I like you back."

"So... do you want to go out on a date with me or something? I mean I'm busy next week, so like, in two weeks maybe?"

"I'm not very busy, since I did a lot of things earlier than necessary. So yes."

They didn't ever go on that date though, due to a certain occurrence the day after a certain birthday party.

"Logan..." Virgil said, gently knocking on the door. "Do you want to unlock the door for me?"

Logan shook his head even though he knew Virgil couldn't see him.

"Um, I'm not mad at you. I don't like you any less. I know you're going through a lot. Maybe I came off as aggressive when I asked you if you called me Thomas? If I did, I'm really, really sorry. I just get... scared. But if you wanna come out, we can do what you want. If you want to talk about it, or you just want to ignore it."

Logan turned the knob, unlocking the door. Virgil walked in slowly at sat next to Logan on the floor.

The popular kid put his hand on Logan's cheek and brought him in for a sweet kiss.

"I love you," Logan blurted out.

Virgil stared at his boyfriend in shock. "I- I love you too." That was the first time either of them said that.
