Logan stroked Virgil's hair. He couldn't fall asleep, so he just watched Virgil's chest rise and fall at a steady pace.

But this time, it was different. He had avoided any rest so he could keep working or he just couldn't because he was so stressed.

This time, he didn't want to fall asleep. He didn't want the day to end -- the first day he'd been truly happy in a long time.

And, unfortunately, he decided that he wasn't going to live with Virgil anymore.

For real this time.

He would actually finally mend everything with his mother.

He would stop avoiding everything.

"Thank you."

Virgil rustled and woke up. "Why?" he whispered. "Damnit Lo, I was in the middle of a dream about meeting Brendon Urie."

Logan chuckled. "Thank you for being here, I guess."

"I mean... it's my house, dude."

"No, like, here for me. Metaphorically. Uh, and, if I never met you, I'd be living on the streets without the motivation to do... anything. So, thank you."

"I know, I'm great, huh?" Virgil joked.

"Yes. Uh, and what kind of..."

"What?"

"I don't know. I'm tired, but I wanted to drag out the conversation so I could keep hearing you talk."

Virgil laughed and turned red. "Oh, shut the fuck up. Go to sleep or else I'm doing your makeup tomorrow morning."

"Shit." The nerd fake gasped.

"But aren't you tired?"

"Yeah, I am."

"Then go to sleep. You want to be prepared for tomorrow, or..." He checked the time on his charging phone. "In four hours."

"Why? What about tomorrow?"

"Go to sleep, asshole. By the way, you didn't open your locker since you came, have you? Anyway, love ya."

"Same here. What? But seriously, wh-"

Virgil had already fallen fast asleep again.

No, Logan didn't open his locker since he came back from the hospital. He barely had anything in there and he just liked carrying his bag to his classes. And for his jacket or sweater, he just put it in his bag. He never liked wearing anything super heavy anyway.

But, based on what Virgil said, the next morning at school, Logan opened his locker. Spinning the numbers almost felt new because of how long it had been, even though it had only really been a couple weeks.

Virgil came by and sat down next to him to watch. "Do you like it?"
