(a/n: dude royality is so underrated excuse me
patton made roman pasta, roman summoned puppies just for patton, patton took care of roman when he wasn't camera ready, and i think patton's the reason why roman started to appreciate virgil more (im not going to go on about that now tho unless someone wants me to for some reason)
just saying
royality is awesome.)
Virgil was on a call with his mother.
"Mom, okay, this is kind of urgent and I also told this to Dad. So, Logan's mom is outside our house and his father is coming soon, but Logan doesn't have the... best relationship with his parents, so when you come home, and there are two people outside, please don't invite them in!"
"Oh, wow! Okay! What do they look like?"
"Well, his mom has brown hair and Logan says his dad has dark brown, probably super messy hair. His mom wears a lot of jewelry and has a denim jacket on, and his dad will probably be wearing something slightly sloppy and he'll probably look drunk."
"Oh dear. Alright. I'll keep a lookout. Tell Logan I wish him the best! He's a very nice young man!"
"Thank you so much."
"I'm almost home. I'm at a red light. Oh! Well, not anymore. I'll see you in a few minutes, Virgil!"
"See you, Mom."

(a/n: also i rewrote this chapter at least three times because i really wanted it to be good but like here's this shit instead)
Patton and Mrs. Greyson were baking cookies to make Logan feel better.
Virgil and Logan were kissing on the couch, Logan with his arms over Virgil's shoulders.
The doorbell rang and Mrs. Greyson was quick to answer it. "Hello. Who are you?"
The man was tall and his hair was neat and his shirt was tucked into his pants. "Hello. My name is Brandon Decker."
"..Decker?"
The man didn't match Virgil's description at all. Maybe it was a different Mr. Decker.
"Yes, Decker."
Logan stood up from the couch and even he almost didn't recognize his father. It took him a solid two minutes to realize who he was, and during those two minutes, Mr. Decker was already in the house.
Logan didn't look up from the floor until Mr. Decker snapped in front of his face. "...yes, Dad?"
Mrs. Greyson frowned. If Virgil was talking about Mr. Decker according to Logan's memories, how could he be his father?
But all she knew was that she'd completely messed up, but she planned to stay around Logan the whole time, and Virgil did too.
Mr. Decker looked at Virgil up and down, raised his eyebrow, and pursed his lips.
Virgil sighed. That wasn't good.
"Who's this?" Mr. Decker asked his son.
Logan didn't want to answer, but he knew he had to. "This is my friend. His name is Virgil."
"Why is he dressed like a girl?"
"Dad! You did not just say that!"
Virgil wanted to run away, but he had to stay there with Logan. He just had to accept that not everybody was so accepting.
"What, Logan? Your friend is a faggot!"
"He is not!"
"Are you talking back to me?"
Logan's heart stopped. "No!"
"Good."
"Please don't be rude to him, though. He didn't do anything wrong to you."
"He gay?"
Logan looked at Virgil and Virgil gave him a sad but approving look. "Yes..."
"What kind of drugs are you on?! Becoming friends with a fairy! You know, you're going to turn into one someday! Thomas, and now this- this girl!"
That name set off a bomb in Logan's head. "You would know so much about drugs, wouldn't you!"
By saying those few words, he'd made a huge mistake.
"Let's go home."
"No."
"Logan."
"No."
The father raised a fist and almost landed it in the middle of Logan's face, when everything went in slow motion.
Virgil grabbed Mr. Decker's fist and tried to twist it, but he didn't have much physical strength and just ended up trying to kick at his chest.
Mrs. Greyson was recording the scene on her phone because she knew she needed proof of Mr. Decker being abusive, since white men for some reason spend less time in jail while black men who didn't do anything get shot by the police, because America.
Patton reached into his pocket, grabbed a bottle, and quickly sprayed the contents in Mr. Decker's face.
The older man fell to the ground and his eyes were burning. He groaned in pain loudly and Virgil let go of his wrist.
The protective older brother turned to Patton. "Since when do you carry around mace?"
"Since juniors and seniors started hitting on me. It's pretty gross."
"...tell me all their names, phone numbers, and addresses after we call the cops on Logan's dad."
☆
The police were arresting Brandon Decker, and when he was finally gone, Logan tugged at the sleeve of Virgil's moto jacket to get his attention and asked, "Are you okay?"
Virgil gaped at him. "Am I okay? Dude, I don't matter in this situation! Are you okay?"
He took one look at Logan's sweater sleeve and he knew he wasn't okay. "Lo..."
"I-I'm sorry, I got nervous and I didn't even realize I was scratching at them, I- I-"
There were a few dots of blood on his blueish gray sleeve. "Don't apologize.. let me help you."
Logan nodded quickly and they went into the bathroom together.
Patton was getting the safety talk from his mom again.
"Mom, I know this!"
"Yes, I know you know this, but just in case!"
"Fiiiine. I know not to let anybody hit on me. Virgil's super protective, and he taught me that when we were in middle school."
"He's a very good brother! Maybe you can learn a few things from him," she said jokingly.
"I was the one that got Virgil and Logan together!"
"Yes, I know."
☆
Virgil cleaned up the blood on Logan's arm even though Logan insisted he could do it himself. Then he offered a different shirt. It was a dark green Billie Eilish long sleeved shirt that was a little big on Logan.
"What do you want to do now?" Virgil asked.
"I'm unsure."
"Do you want a kiss?"
Logan didn't want to bother Virgil any longer, but... "Yes."
