(a/n: ironically im publishing this a day before summer vacation is over)

Soon enough, it was summer vacation.

"I don't know what to do with myself anymore," Logan said awkwardly. He was trying to relax, as he was laying down next to Virgil, but the beginning of summer was always strange. His routines were gone. He had nothing to worry about. He got to live freely, but he didn't understand the meaning of the word.

"I didn't know what to do with myself to begin with," Virgil replied. "Uh, do you want to do something? Go to Pinkberry or whatever?"

"Im afraid of going back there," Logan laughed quietly. "My first experience wasn't pleasant."

"But you looked so hot," Virgil teased. He got closer and leaned against Logan. "I was just a mess."

"No, you're adorable. All the time."

Virgil smiled up at him. "I know."

Logan sighed jokingly before chewing his bottom lip and he stared a bit nervously at the ceiling.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, it's just- just that it was junior year. We aren't even done with high school yet," Logan groaned. "I just would like to get it over with now. So much shit happened and I don't know if it'll be better when we're seniors."

"I don't think it can get any worse than it had." Virgil half smiled.

"Yeah. True. It can only get better from here except for if one of us dies."

"You're not dying on my watch, motherfucker," the shorter one said and kissed Logan's hand that the promise ring was on. "And there'll be less pressure on us since I don't know if I'm popular anymore."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Meh. Maybe the harassment's gonna stop when I don't matter anymore."

Logan turned over to face his boyfriend. "What do you mean?"

"You know. The catcalling. That time I got locked in a closet to be away from you. All that jazz. I dunno. I just want to be feminine without getting shit for it or without guys treating me like I'm some object."

"Most of those guys will be gone since they graduated." He rubbed Virgil's arm. "You have nothing to worry about."

"Yeah. I mean, even when I call people out, it doesn't stop. It doesn't ever stop. Like, I think I might..."

Logan put his arm around Virgil's waist. "What?"

"Just stop? I dunno. I've been a regular masculine hetero guy when I see my extended family. I really like when I dress up and wear makeup, but... I dunno."

"You like it. It shouldn't bother anybody. I think you're perfect either way."

Virgil blushed. "Ha. Thanks. I mean, I don't want to give this up. I know harassment isn't gonna stop, even if I don't dress like this anymore, but still. It might be better for me."

"If you're on the fence, you can dress whichever way you want depending on the day. You don't have to make a complete change."

"True. I mean, I'm just sick of people saying, 'hey, you look great!' And I'll say thanks because it's a sweet compliment. But then they'll say something as a follow up like 'you've got a sweet ass' and then it's like, less good?"

Logan sat up. "Who the fuck-"

"They were seniors! We won't see them. I mean, some freshmen are kinda... y'know, as well."

Logan laid back down.

Virgil reached for Logan's hand and Logan connected them. "We're going to be okay, right?"

"I can't promise you anything, but I certainly hope so."

Patton opened the door slowly. "Hey, Virgil? Oh, hi Logan! Okay, so basically, I just impulsively bought a lot of snacks, so can we have a movie night so I'll have an excuse?"

"Sure," Virgil replied. He pushed himself up and off his bed and Logan followed after the siblings.

That night, after they were all done finishing Patton's food, Logan fell asleep during the movie on Virgil's shoulder, so he tried to open Logan's phone to tell his mother.

Logan's birthday?

Nope.

123456?

Nope.

Virgil's birthday?

The phone unlocked and Virgil grinned, blushing, and texted Logan's mom.

Patton was texting too, not paying attention to the movie either. Virgil laid Logan's head on his thigh instead of his shoulder and leaned over slightly to see Patton's screen.

"Aww, are you texting Elliott?" Virgil teased.

Patton nearly threw his phone. "No!"

Logan's eyes fluttered open. "Huh?"

"Nothing!" Patton said.

Virgil fell back on the pullout couch, laughing at his little brother's red face. They all forgot about the movie as Logan shrugged and went back to sleep basically on top of Virgil and Patton laid down too, continuing to text while shooting glares that weren't serious at Virgil.

Soon, Virgil was the last to fall asleep to the peaceful thought that high school was nearly over.
