Logan was a mess at school that day but he kept his cool because he knew that everyone would be looking at him.

The juniors and seniors had a pep rally right before lunch.

Virgil was less than okay with being surrounded by so many  loud, obnoxious students who couldn't grasp the idea of personal space, but he tried his best.

He was in the same situation as a freshman, and he kept calm for the most part. Nobody noticed anything.

He was certain he could do it again.

Kind of certain.

Okay, maybe not.

Soon enough, he lost track of where his friends were. "Logan!" he called, but the room was way too noisy for him to even hear himself.

He wished popularity was like the movies. Then he'd open his mouth and everyone else would shut theirs.

But obviously, that wouldn't happen.

Patton, being a freshman, wasn't there, so Virgil was alone in the crowd.

He shoved through.

"HEY!" a girl exclaimed when she was almost pushed to the floor.

"Sorry! If you get everyone else to move, we'll go on a shopping spree!"

She looked up and saw it was Virgil. "Oh! EVERYBODY, MAKE WAY FOR VIRGIL!"

Soon enough, a clear path formed and the popular kid rushed through and out of the auditorium, into the empty hallway.

His palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy, (mom's spaghetti) but he found a quiet corner next to a water fountain.

He took a few sips and cooled off.

He heard two people laughing and talking and he tried to hide, but saw that it was Patton and Elliott who had just excused themselves from class.

"Hi, Virge!" Patton greeted his brother cheerfully. "Aren't you supposed to be at the pep rally?"

Virgil's heartbeat started to become its normal speed again. "Ha. About that..."

"Bitch, I feel you," Elliott told the junior.

Logan bumped into a tall blond student, who turned around and glared down at him.

"Hey... Landon..."
