Rain pelted down heavily on our umbrellas

Rain pelted down heavily on our umbrellas. It's been an hour since Forth's message. I haven't alerted anyone as he instructed, but I feel that I should have. I gazed at the old uncle hunched against the cold wind.

"Should we go look for him?" I wondered out loud.

"No Khun, dangerous Khun." He shook his head vehemently. I flashed the torch in the direction of the invisible hiking trail. He should be back now. Did he get lost? What if he met with an accident, what if he's lying somewhere in the middle of nowhere unconscious. My breath hitched.

It's totally my fault. He'd been avoiding everyone since I snapped at him in the room. I worried my bottom lip. I can't waste time anymore. I should alert the authorities. We should look for him before things get out of hand. I was about to rush back to the house.

"Khun, look!" Uncle shouted. I lit the torch. The low branches are moving and someone is treading through the sliding mud and grass. It could be Forth. I ran to the edge of the forest ignoring uncle's shouts.

Two branches parted and I sighed in relief. Forth appeared soaking wet from rain and splattered in mud from head to toe. I let out a breath staggering with exhaustion.

"Are you alright?" I shouted over the rain, dragging him by his arm to the cover of the umbrella

"Are you alright?" I shouted over the rain, dragging him by his arm to the cover of the umbrella. It's really no use because he's drenched all over.

"I'm alright Beam." His smile is bright because his face is covered with mud. "You'll get dirt on you." He moved away from me. "I slipped and fell on the mud." He turned to the old man. "Uncle, is there a garden hose for me to wash up? I really don't want to dirty the house."

And then the asshole walked away like I haven't been worried sick for an hour about his whereabouts. I huffed annoyingly and treaded to the house. I kept the umbrella aside and waited at the back door to give him a piece of my mind for worrying me.
