“Nong Yo, are you absolutely sure?” P’Todd’s voice came through the line, worried and sad.

“I don’t feel like continuing to perform, P’Todd. It’s like my heart is broken.” I curled one arm around my folded up knees and placed my chin on it. I pressed the phone tightly to my ear.

“It’s just one crazy fan Nong. Don’t be disappointed. There’s million more cheering for your performance.
Won’t you reconsider?” P’Todd is the nicest among my public relations team.

“My singing came from my heart. I sang because it gave me pleasure. Now I don’t feel like singing anymore.” I stared at the perfectly landscaped front garden. The window sill at my bedroom is the most comfortable place for me to sit. It gave me a clear view of the large, iron front gate of our mansion. But there’s a reason why I’m sitting here from late afternoon, staring at it longingly.

I’m waiting for the car to appear, which was supposed to pick P’Pha from the city. I missed him so much I can’t wait to see him. I can’t wait to be back in his warm embrace. I bit my lip to hide my smile. Giving up my singing career is the least important matter in my mind right now. But I really value P’Todd’s opinion. That’s why I’m even talking about it.

“I respect your decision Nong. We will miss you dearly.” He responded sadly.

“I will miss everyone and you especially, P’Todd.” I said solemnly. “My dad will compensate for any damages done to the company by my voiding the contract.” I added. There were things scheduled months ahead and I feel bad for abandoning them.

“Yes, they told me that your dad took care of everything.” He paused. “Well, best of luck Nong Yo.” He sighed.
“You too P’Todd. Goodbye.”

“Goodbye.”

I placed the phone aside. I haven’t even checked my social media. Fans are going crazy over the news of my retirement from singing career. They're even threatening to find the person who did this and punish him themselves for what he did to me. But I really don’t feel like continuing. Art is complaining that fans are ganging up on him and P’Mew about my retirement. I feel bad for them yes. But I can’t do something when my heart is completely not in it. It will die down eventually. They will forget about me as years go by.

Besides, I want to enjoy my time with P’Pha. I don’t want to always look behind my back when I go on a date with him. I just want to live a normal life and be happy. I don’t want to spend months away from him while I do foreign tours. I just  got him back and I’m never letting him out of my sight again. I will find something to do eventually.

Soft knock came on my door and dad’s head appeared.

“Daddy?” I unfolded from my position.

“Son, when Pha comes, bring him to my office, immediately.” He was about to close the door again.

“Daddy?” I rushed to the door. “Who is he dad? Why did he do it?” I wanted to know why this guy tried to deliberately ruin our lives. I haven’t done anything to anyone consciously.
