Raine was going to kill him.

That was the thought that was running through Xavier's mind as he headed back to Thorn Inc after concluding his meeting with Killian.

Although he was happy that he had gotten Killian well caught in his plan, the guilt of lying to Raine and going behind her back to meet Killian was depressing his mood.

"If I may ask..." Jordon began, glancing at Xavier through the rearview mirror as he drove. "What's on your mind, Mr. Thorn?"

"Raine." Xavier said without a thought.

She was always on his mind. From the moment his eyes had landed on her, she had taken ahold of his attention, never letting it go.

"She will be glad that Killian signed the documents."

"But before that, she will be furious that we went behind her back." Xavier said. "She wanted to be a part of it. I guess I understand her point too though. She's doing it all for her parents."

"You are doing this for her safety." Jordon justified. "She will be mad, maybe. But you are doing this for her own good and she will understand."

"I know..." Xavier breathed out, looking out the window. "I just hate lying to her, though."

"I understand." Jordon nodded silently.

Xavier watched the city pass by as they drove back to the company. Things had changed so drastically over the last couple of days and he had yet to catch up with all of the information that was being thrown at him. And if he was having such troubles, he couldn't even imagine how Raine must have been feeling.

Thoughts of her smile filled his mind and a smile of his own played softly on his lips. But just as they approached the block of Cathy's Cakes & Coffee, Xavier eyes landed on Daisy who was walking into the cafe with bags in her arms.

Raine's meeting with Daisy popped into his mind, along with Raine's awkward behavior that had been a result of their meeting. And before he knew it, Xavier was calling out to Jordon.

"Jordon stop the car." He ordered, waiting for mere seconds before pushing the door open and rushing out.

"Daisy!" Xavier called out.

Daisy turned around, a smile appearing on her lips at the sight of New York's most powerful man walking towards her.

"Xavier." Daisy smiled. "How are you doing? What's up?"

"Well..." He responded. "I had to talk to you about something."

"Oh yeah sure." Daisy nodded, opening the doors of the cafe, it was a slow day and that whole place was empty. "Come on in. Should I get something started for you?"
