56. Dating a Police Officer (S.M)

"Please pick up," Shawn pleads to himself.

  "The person you are calling cannot be reached at this moment," the robotic voice states.

  It recalls its voicemail option and for what seems like the thousandth time, he leaves another voicemail.

  "Please Y/N, respond. I know we've been going through a rough patch but you need to respond."

   Shawn turns his phone and can't help but tear up as he ponders what Y/N must be doing at this moment.

You dodge a bullet, literally, as you're running from the crime scene to catch a criminal. The criminal is certainly putting up a fight and you have to stay alert so that the man doesn't shoot at you without you realizing it. You feel your phone buzz again but you ignore it, as you can't respond due to the predicament you're in.

After running for what feels like forever, you begin to lose your breath but the criminal keeps running, without a breath coming out of their mouth. You finally reach your limit and have to pause. You swipe your forehead of sweat and at that exact moment, a bullet hits your left leg, causing you to collapse on the ground.

"You thought you could catch me," the criminal snidely says.

You're about to yell that he won't get away with it but before you know it, the man is gone. You attempt to get up but your attempts fail so you pull out your phone to call backup. You notice the missed calls from Shawn and feel a small urge to call back. Before you can do anything though, you feel your eyelids shut and you fall into darkness.

"She's WHAT?!" Shawn yells into the phone.

"Sir, your wife was shot and still hasn't woken up from surgery."

"I—" Shawn is speechless and stays silent for several moments.

"Sir?"

"I have to go," he quickly says.

He hangs up and walks back into his meeting, telling his colleagues that he cannot stay. They're surprised as Shawn has never missed a business meeting, especially since he was promoted to CEO.

"It's important!" He yells at them, "my wife's health is more important than this."

  Shawn leaves the stunned stares behind and is determined to get to his wife's side.

   "What do you mean she's not responding?!" Shawn furiously asks.

  "Sir, we are doing everything we can."

  "It isn't enough! Do more! What are you doing, just standing here? Do something for her!"

   The doctor is about to say something but a person shows up, signaling for her to go out and talk to him. Shawn waits angrily for a few minutes before both walk back in.

  "Is your name Shawn Mendes?" The man asks.

  "Yes," he responds, rolling his eyes.
