District One: Phalone Papillon

"Hurry up will you?" Helvetica hissed.  "I'm not going to kill you!"

I hesitated for a moment. That her job, to kill tributes.

     "That will come tomorrow."

I was so nervous. I  probably should have gone onstage faster. I was the first tribute being  interviewed. For once, I wished I was from District Two. District One  may have been superior in most aspects, but we also were the first  tributes to be interviewed. It was nerve-wracking to say the least. I  swear, us District One tributes didn't have this much pressure on us  during the Games.

I walked onto the  stage and tried to run over to my seat. I didn't want all these men  staring at me like we were at an Avox Auction. Unfortunately, I hadn't  exactly gotten used to walking around in heels. They weren't the best  shoes to play with dogs in. There was a thin cord connecting to the  speakers on the stage, I moved so I wouldn't step on it, and I tripped.  The security guard on the side of the stage got a view he wasn't going  to forget soon.

Helvetica smiled at  me. Why was she smiling? I just made a fool out of myself on national  televison! I wanted to punch her in the face. If only I was the one  killing her tomorrow.

I stood up and  smiled. They were used to the District One bimbo, so i would play the  District One bimbo. So I would. "Oops." I giggled, then walked over  towards Helvetica.

"So Phalene, apparently raising dogs didn't teach you to walk in heels." Helvetica said. "What did it teach you?"

"Well, I've been around dogs so much that I know exactly how to deal with bitches like you." I replied.

Helvetica simply  smirked in reply. I knew that I wasn't the first person, or the last to  insult her. "Representing your District must be a great honor. How did  you feel when your name was announced?"

"I wasn't Reaped  Helvetica." I said smiling. Now that I had gotten my anger out I felt a  tiny bit better. I needed to be nicer to her if I wanted any chance of  her sponsoring me. "But I would have to say that it is an honor to be  representing any District, especially District One. I just feel proud  and confident."

Helvetica nodded.  "Like most outfits for our District One girls, your outfit is simply  stunning! How did your stylist come up with that?" She asked.

"I have no idea. I  may be from the fashion District but I could barely do my makeup for  Reaping Day. I have to say though, it is pretty." I said. My outfit was  beautiful. Thankfully, my stylist didn't make it near-transparent. I  would have felt even more like a show dog in that. Instead, it was plain  white, except for the bottom which was made up of dull orange floral  patterns. The thin brown belt made the outfit look more like it was for a  District Ten girl. Maybe that was the point though, that I wasn't like  the other Careers.

"Every Games has the  tributes that don't make it past the Bloodbath. I can already tell that  you don't think you are one of those. How far do you expect to make  it?" Helvetica asked me.

    "I wouldn't volunteer if I didn't think I could win." I said quickly.

"What makes you think you can win?"  Helvetica replied, just as fast.

I didn't know what  to say. "I mean, I'm a Career. I haven't really thought about it." I  said, stumbling through my sentence.

"Personally, I think you need a game plan to succeed. What is your strategy?" She asked me.
