Arena One: Defying Gravity

The night life is active  tonight. Owls hoot, wolves can be heard howling through the moon and  the occasional bat flies over your head in search of prey. The stars  aren't all out, but a fair few constellations can be seen: Capricorn,  Leo and Hercules. They vanish and the night turns to black when the  Capitol anthem sounds, but then the seal lights up the dark more than  any star ever could.

Fiera Cole, Atomique Chesley.

"Is this on?" Fillius'  voice echoes throughout the arena and you instantly turn to face upwards  and see what is happening. The Gamemaker stands there, looking tired  but pleased with what is about to come. "Okay, good. Now scoot, Audax;  go take care of your own room, however pitiful it is."

Between muffled  protests, you can hear a door shut and Fillius turns his attention back  to the arena. "Congratulations, tributes. Between you and the other  arena, there are only twelve tributes left. Soon, you will be merging  together – what? You thought we'd let one victor per arena? Keep  dreaming – but not quite yet. Today is the final challenge before you  get to meet up with any friends, allies, enemies we have separated you  from. But first..."

You hear the sound of a  switch being flicked and suddenly your feet no longer touch the ground.  You begin to float in the air, swimming and laughing, until Fillius  interrupts your thought. "I wouldn't be too giddy if I were you; this  anti-gravity will send you flying straight into the arena's force  field."

THE TASK:

-You must find a way to keep yourself anchored to the ground, this is the task. If you do not succeed, you will die. For  those of you who haven't read Catching Fire, electrified force fields  surround the arena. They are invisible – except for a chink that is  extremely difficult to see – and bumping into them will basically cause  immediate death.

-Two people must die in  your entry, however they want. They do not have to be your allies this  time (though they can if you want them to be) but they have to be from  THE FOREST ARENA. You have not yet merged, so you can't see the others  die! Also send in one ballot death. If you do not tell me who died and  who your ballot is, no death will be counted.

-Hand in by Saturday at 8 PM EST.

-Word Limit: 1000

-THREE will be up for votes, TWO will die.

Arena Two: The Vertically Challenged

In a blink you find  yourself back in the dilapidated carnival, just as you left it. The  faces of the fallen flash across the sky.

Chernobyl Fermi, Stu Misterpot.

Blink.

Immediately you notice  everything looks big. Mammoth. The buzz of carnival games hurts your  ears. The grass you are standing on is about the size of yourself.  You're in for a wild ride. Audax glowers over you, this time definitely  just a hologram.

"Heyo my little  people!" He has trouble spitting out the words before he is overtook by a  bout of chuckles. The static cuts and you hear someone in the  background yelling at the Gamemaker. "The correct term is vertically  challenged."

"Oh thanks Vaeronika,  but I really couldn't care less. Anywho obviously we shrunk you; or did  we just grow everything else? Yeah well actually it is the latter. we  tried shrinking some avoxes, but their noses never turned out well...  Watch out for the games. They seem to have a mind of their own; well  they do."

The games seem to roll  towards you, one sprays a stream of water at you; barely missing. The  cotton candy machine whirs dangerously.

"If you do get sucked in to the cotton candy, try a bite! It's mango flavored; my treat."

THE TASK:

-You must find away to escape the carnival games.

-Two people must die in  your entry however you want. They do not have to be your allies this  time (though they can if you want them to be) but they have to be from  THE CARNIVAL ARENA.
