The eight remaining  contestants sit in an unbroken line, whispering amongst each other;  although they are no longer in danger of becoming factionless, none of  them want to return home. Penelope, Aimee, Matt, Merida and Minerva  stand in front of them, and the Heads of Candor and Dauntless speak in  perfect synchronization.

"Aidan Hawke and Trey Hull."

As the two pack their  bags and leave, Minerva begins to speak. "The last task had a very  specific goal; most things do. We wanted to open you up to the  Factionless life. A member of your family has broken the rules of their  Faction and is about to be punished for it , and I'm sure you know what  the punishment is for such an offence."

Penelope clears her  throat. "Stepping up for your family would be considered selfish," she  says. "After all, criminals need to be punished for their own good; they  must learn the consequences of their actions."

"Disagreeing with the authorities may break the peace," adds Aimee. "One disagreement can snowball and lead to war in a week."

"Remember," says Matt.  "Faction before blood."
