The lights are too  bright and the floors smell too clean to Eden; who currently sits in a  chair that is aligned perfectly with seven others, in which the other  initiates sit. Her hands fiddle in her lap, her knee bounces up and  down, and her hair falls into her face as she glances into her lap.  Bringing the initiates together into one small, enclosed room cannot be a  good sign for anyone, especially Eden, who, after making that mistake  in the lab, fears that it may be her going home- the risk of becoming  factionless now obsolete.

The five Faction leaders  slowly file in through a small gray door, walking around so they stand  in front of the initiate's, the large plain room only accentuated from  the people within it by the large window overlooking the faction of  Amity.

Eden's head flicks up as  Merida and Matt cut the otherwise muffled silence in two by speaking in  perfect synchronisation, "Aidan Hawke and Trey Hull."

Eden, relieved at her  fortune but guilty at her happiness over the two leaving, places her  hand in her lap and waits- surely there is another reason why they are  in Amity, in a room with barely anything in it, right?

Minerva's crisp voice  cuts through the still air, "Now, the last task had a very specific  goal; most things do. We wanted to open you up to the Factionless life. A  member of your family has broken the rules of their Faction and is  about to be punished for it, and I'm sure you know what the punishment  is for such an offence." Eden's eyes widen.

Penelope gives a curt  cough, covering her mouth, and Minerva nods towards her. She pipes up,  her hair bobbing around her face, "Stepping up for your family would be  considered selfish."

Eden tunes the rest out,  she already knows what she has to do- or does she really? Eden, her  breathing trying to come out steady, can feel her head begin to pound as  it always does when she tries to hold in anger or sadness. Her head  begins to pound and her jaw clenches and it goes downhill from there.  She takes a shaky breath. A calm mind is the only solution to a problem.  Minerva walks briskly over to Eden, who sits staring into space.  Minerva snaps her fingers in front of her face, drawing Eden back into  reality.

She coughs. "Your father  has been found of treason, allegations claim that your father  participated in a group meeting at his work in trying to overthrow the  newly elected officials. I shall leave you with your thoughts, but Eden,  do remember the actions of yourself." With that, Minerva walks swiftly  back to the other Leaders, her skirt swishing at her heels.

Time seems to drag along  as thoughts race through Eden's mind. How could they possibly have  captured six people who just so happen to be the initiate's family? That  is the main one for Eden- would it be possible that the factions...?  No, it would be seemingly impossible and why would the leaders do it  anyway? But it almost seems like they've set the initiate's up. What if  it is a test? Eden snaps herself out of her mentality- if anything, it  is better to be safe than sorry, so therefore, she needs a plan- and  quick.

Her eyes drift to the  ceiling as she thinks about the actions of everyone she has encountered.  What choices can her actions have? If she stands up for her father,  then she may be made factionless too- and is that the life she really  wants? Her eyes had been opened by her last visit, but when she grew  older she certainly didn't want her children growing up in the slums.  But if she stayed put, and never raised a hand, her father would leave  and it would weigh on her shoulders.

But the questions still reins- is he innocent?

Her mind swirls with  incomprehensible thoughts, jumbled around like a strange mix of soup.  Eden's head pounds and her eyes are getting sore, the worst type of  headache. She rubs her eyes, her glasses shifting underneath her hand.  When she opens up her eyes again she sees that the Leaders are standing  in front of the initiates once more.

Eden looks around at the  other initiates out of the corner of her eye- they all wear the same  determined yet solemn face. Her mouth twitches down into a frown, and  her body feels deflated.

The leaders speak,  Penelope explaining how the ruling would go. Each initiate would stand  up and say their bit. If they had nothing to say, then they would merely  remain seated, and it would go onto the next person. Eden was last. As  the first initiate stands up, Eden's heart quickens; she needs to think  now and make a decision- to stand or not to stand?

Her mind races to her  memories of her father, his smiles and his hugs, and his devotion to his  work. How could he possibly be guilty of treason? And what proof? If  they put him under truth serum it would become apparent nonetheless,  which seems like the most logical solution.

Three people have went,  one has stood up. The leaders look intently at each initiate as their  turn arrives. Vetalia remains seated, as does Linkin.

It's Eden's turn. Her  heart beats fast, and she knows what to do now, her mind only  semi-clear, but it's the best she can do. Her feet touch the ground and  she steps up from the plush seat. Her voice comes out just above a  whisper, but somehow the leaders seem to be able to pick up on it. "Now,  I am certainly not going to stand up and say my father is innocent- he  may be, he may not- neither you nor I can tell. All I wanted to say is  that procedure for treason usually calls to be presented in front of  judges in Candor, under the truth serum, and then whatever punishment if  guilty- whether it be exile of death- should then be appointed. I'm  just saying that I can't be sure if he is guilty or not, but I do hope  if anything happens he is given fair trial and a fair punishment."

Her words finish in a  heap, her talking sped up until it was just one long run-on sentence.  Eden falls back into her seat, looking at her lap as her knuckles clasp  tightly together.

"Well," Matt chirps, "How wonderful, we'll be in touch with all of you soon enough."
