Rise of the Inquisition (Arc 4-6)

Chapter 138: Rise of the Grand Wizard

Alexon watched the events unfold around him, watching as the Inquisition fought on by themselves. Alexon watched, as Noxious was hit in the back of the head by the Dragon's Tail on the mountain plateau on the right side. With Blackfire still attached to the torso of the Dragon, he flew forward and landed face first into the rock wall ahead of him. Alexon then turned to his left, and he watched as both Lady Diane and Archer desperately were fighting. They were leaping, rolling, and dodging the Dragon Tail and Wings, as it was continuously trying to knock them out of the battle. As the Tail of the Dragon almost hit Lady Diane from behind, Archer dropped the King of Destruction and quickly picked her up from the ground. While at the same time he leaped away from the tail, protecting her from being harmed. Alexon then turned to look at Paladin, who was still sliding backwards albeit slowly from the powerful blue flames he was maintaining the shields against. Paladin's Golden Granshield was holding strongly, however a large puddle was being formed from under Paladin as he was dripping sweat down his forehead. Paladin was also starting to shake, as keeping the Granshield up strongly was becoming harder and harder as time was being extended. Since the endurance needed to maintain the shield against such a strong force was hard, no matter how strong you could be. Ashley walked up to the left side of Paladin, and as she spoke she had a concerned look on her face.

"Paladin, you need to rest for a bit! You're fighting a battle that can't possibly be won at this rate, and at this rate you'll come to a point where you won't be able to hold off those Dragon flames anymore!"

Paladin shook his head as he clenched his teeth, as his pride made him have an inability of surrendering.

"I'm not giving in--not yet at the very least. I'm not going to allow the two of you be harmed by the Dragons, not as the Lord Inquisitor! So I'll stand here and hold my ground till my last breath."

Alexon turned his head to look at the ground after Paladin finished speaking. As he looked at the ground, he started to shake furiously, he clenched his fists.

God fucking dammit, everyone else is fighting and doing something to help out besides me. Not only that, but I'm the damn reason why all of us are down here. If I never met that beautiful woman, if I never got involved in the retrieval of the Staff of the Grand Wizard, then none of this would have happened!

Paladin's legs started to cave in, his leg muscles being strained from holding his position for so long. He was being pushed more and more back, unable to muster any more strength to stop the Dragons from making his slide back. Paladin clenched down on his teeth hard, shaking furiously and doing everything that he could to maintain his position. Droplets of sweat were soaking the ground, as Paladin was being pushed back. Ashley, on the left side of Paladin still desperately pleaded with him.

"Paladin please! You cannot win this fight, there is no way for you to win! Please, protect yourself and fall back with me!"

"No! I will not abandon my fellow Inquisitors, I'm not going to back down to these damn Dragons!"

While at the same time, Noxious flew back onto the torso of the Dragon on it's right side. Grabbing onto the Black shaft of Blackfire he ripped it out of the torso, causing water to fly out from the cut. The tail of the dragon quickly moved over to Noxious and tried to whip him. Noxious, while using Blackfire, swiped at the tail sideways and again he cut the tail in half. Alexon shook his head, hearing the desperation from Ashley's pleading voice.

I'm fucking useless! I can't do a single damn thing in this fighting! I mean just look at me, I'm not trying to do anything to help out! Not trying a single damn thing! I'm just standing here where I am looking at the ground, being pessimistic.

Delta then flew down onto the right shoulder of Alexon, Alexon felt Delta land on his right shoulder but he didn't turn to look at him. Delta spoke into the right ear of Alexon, in a soft voice.
