SOCIAL MEDIA

Something I've been thinking a lot about recently.
I was eavesdropping the mother day on two of my classmates talking about this topic as well.
Social media. I hate it. Only efficient for allowing people to show off what a "great" person they are.
I understand it has its pros. You can connect with family, friends, teachers, students, old colleagues- literally anyone.
It is easy to "keep up to date" with those you care about. It is an awesome way to share "what's new" and is a practical tool to announce information to masses of people at once.
However, there are more cons than there are pros.
Literally? Call me old school- but I truly do not understand how any of it works.
Do I use it? Yeah. But what is the real purpose??
The content is so boring. It's filled of people pretending to live a superior life which differs from actual reality. Everyone (is guilty of this) but uses filters and photoshops "selfies" and pictures.
Everyone posts or "tweets" their complaints about what's not fair and seeks a pity party for themselves.
Facebook is a synonym for "controversial". It 98% is contained with political drama, adults bantering, and someone getting offended over literally nothing.
In a world where everything is over exposed, the coolest thing you can do is maintain your mystery.

You probably ask- "Then if it bothers you THAT much, why not just delete it?", "If you're saying it serves no use, why don't you just live without it?"
Noted.
I do browse media. I do like to know what people are up to. But I think in society today, it is abused more than it should be. I don't post too much on my own media. I do "Snapchat" but usually it's just a lame small talk conversation.
I learn from social media. I learn about my classmates by stalking their twitter(sorry not sorry). I learn what someone's "alter ego" is.
I want don't want social media to impress people, but to impact people.
I hate how I get embarrassed when I post something and it doesn't go all "viral" as I had expected it to. I don't understand why a girl from my school in a bikini gets more attention than a poem about life. It just shows that people get caught up in things that don't matter, and aren't even aware of it.

Everything is more of an "industry" now opposed to actual media. Everything is a "sponsorship" or a business for ambassadors.
Everyone keeps getting lost in what isn't real, chasing what only "appears" to be.
People need to go out and do things that make them forget to check their phones.
Human beings in the 21st century are seeking validation from strangers... how sad is that??
Measuring their life worth with likes. People are buying things they can't afford with money they don't have, to show off to people they don't even know.
If you don't share something on social media doesn't mean you're not up to big things. I think this gazette will be huge, but you will never see me posting every entry for people to read.
Privacy is everything. Stop letting just anybody into your life. Into your soul. Into your head. Into your heart.

The BEST moments in life, are the ones too fast to capture. Save some memories just for yourself.

Only drama is created. Social media trains kids, teens, and even adults to try to be something they're not. It makes people think they are less than they actually are. It destroys mental health. It creates a mass entry way into cyber bullying. It trains us to compare our lives instead of appreciating and living it. It's no wonder why everybody is so depressed.
It's not a chemical imbalance. It's not "these stupid iPhones". It's because of the content people see everyday that is a constant reminder of what they are not.
Take it down. Unless it's real? Unless it's going to benefit someone in a positive way? Unless it's going to let someone shine and not make them look stupid? Get off. Don't post it.
Stop scrolling because you're embarrassed you're alone. Stop using it as a way to pass time because there is "nothing better to do."
Look up. Disconnect to connect.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer."
Don't take a picture.
Take the memory with your eyes.
