Neverland's Captive - Ouat Peter Pan

Chapter 14 - Ariel

As soon as my body hit the water, the shock of the cold took over my body. I tried to swim up to the surface but the waters were violent and the current was too strong, pulling me down.

Because of the lack of oxygen in my lungs and the water started to fill them up, my vision started to dimmer and I quickly became lightheaded and sleepy.

Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed me from under shoulders and lifted me, swimming me up to the surface.

As soon as my head was above the water, my vision started to return. I aggressively began to cough out water from my lungs, grasping for breath.

I looked up at who had pulled me up to the water and I was faced with a beautiful girl with dark green eyes and luscious red hair.

"Thank you", I said to her, with just enough breath back to speak as I realised she had saved me from death.

"No problem, but you might want to dive into calmer waters next time", she replied with a bubbly voice.

Before I could respond, I suddenly spotted her tail? She was a mermaid?! Thomas has warmed me about the vicious nature of these creatures. My eyes widen at her.

I quickly started to back away from her as I was scared that she would drown me. Then again she did just save me from drowning though, I thought.

She noticed my expression and that I had seen her tail and said, "don't worry, don't be scared of me".

"But your a mermaid, I know what you do to people", I said in an accusing tone.

"I'm not a Neverland mermaid, I do not kill or cause harm to others, I'm different. I promise", she told me, too be honest I could see the good in her eyes. She seemed like she couldn't harm a fly.

"How can I trust you", I asked her.

"I just saved your life, surely if I wanted to kill you I would have pulled you down", she said with a giggle.

"I guess so.......sorry", I say returning a giggle, as I put my trust in the stranger.

We swam to the shore and the mermaid stayed partly in the water, lying on the rocks as I climbed out onto the sandy shores of Neverland.

"What's your name then", the red head asked me as I was squeezing out the salt filled water from my hair. But before I could answer, someone interrupted us.

"We don't get many girls in Neverland", a woman's voice spoke from behind me.

When I turned around, there stood a woman with black hair which had a large feather placed in it, which was tied loosely in braids. Her eyes were a dark brown shade and her skin was tanned. She wore a long sleeved, light brown dress which had colourful patterns on it.

I became alarmed as I realised she was holding a bow and arrow towards me and the mermaid. "Who are you, do you work for pan?", she demanded.

I put my hands up in surrender of the bow and arrow pointed towards us, "My name is Alice and trust me, I don't work for pan"

She look at me curiously, probably contemplating whether to believe me or not and then she lowered the bow and arrow.

"What are you doing with her then", she asked gesturing towards the red headed mermaid. "Mermaids are loyal to Pan, let alone being vicious and murderous".

"I'm not a Neverland mermaid actually, I'm Ariel", she explains with a sweet smile.

"I suppose you would be dead by now if she was", she realised as she put her bow and arrow away completely.

"Who are you?", I asked the mysterious girl.

"My name is Tiger Lily", she said in response. "Why is your hair wet", she asked as she realised I had just came out the water.

"I jumped off a cliff into the water to escape from pan. I had no choice, he was trying to take me and I didn't know what to do but I knew I couldn't stand to be near him", I say in a panicked tone.

"So it appears we're both enemies of pan then", she paused. "You should come back with me and stay with the natives and we'll hide you from pan", she continued.

"But why? You don't even know me", I asked puzzled.

"Because any enemy of Pans is a friend of mine, as long as we don't get caught that is. Plus Pan doesn't tend to show his face around our camp", Tiger Lily explained as she gestured to leave.

Before we did though, I turned around to Ariel and said, "thank you for saving me Ariel". She smiled in response and swam away.
