Mikasa pov

I wasn't really surprised when i saw the police they could've been here for anyone.  I wasn't even surprised when they said they were here to speak to my aunt and uncle.

But I asked them to let the two of them rest for a while.  Well Petra will rest levi will make the nurses regret their career choice.  Then they asked if they could speak to me.

I agreed and I followed them into a private room. My head was full of questions and I felt like if I didn't say something I would say everything.  "Do you know who did this to them? " I blurted impulsively.

One of them looked at me with a straight face. "That's what we wanted to talk to your aunt and uncle about." I nodded "Could you tell me? " I need to know what happened

"Let us speak with your uncle first okay" I didn't know why they wouldn't tell me anything. I was becoming nervous but then the quiet officer turned to his partner and said. "She might know who did it though. "

I was confused.  Why would I know who hurt my family?  I don't know many people. I concluded that this. Was a simple accident and they were going to be okay. The two looked at me. "Mrs Ackerman do you know anyone named Hitch Dryse? "

It felt like everything stopped. Hitch did say she would ruin Eren and I.  She couldn't have don't this.

I swallowed and opened my mouth to speak but I couldn't so one of the officers did. "She goes to your school she's about your age. I thought you might have seen her around or at least heard of her? " I nodded "yes I know her what does she have to do with this? " I didn't mean to sound rude to the police but something didn't feel right hearing Hitch's name after all that happened and now that my only family was injured.

The officer didn't answer my question instead he asked me another one. "Do you also know Eren Jaeger? " yes I know eren I was supposed to meet him a while ago.  I nod without saying anything.

I saw the one of the officers writing something down. "Ms Ackerman where were you last night? " one asked.  I told them the truth "I was in my home sleeping until early this morning I came here when I got a call from the doctor. "

The officer wrote more and I got more nervous. "Have you ever spoken to either of those people? " I nod. I reached to the my arm to play with my hair but I remember it isn't there anymore.

Eren and I were lying on his couch watching an anime called sword art online together one day. "I don't know Mika I just don't hear it" Eren laughed.  I rolled my eyes "come on you totally sound like Kirito!  You guys have the exact same voice! " I argue not understanding how Eren didn't hear it. He looked at me with a beautiful fond smile. He played with my black hair. "Have you ever thought of cutting it? " he asked. I shook my head "I've never really worried about my hair." I shrug "I think you should cut it you'd look great! " I blushed "How short should I cut it? " he hummed "cut it until it's at your neck.  You would be so cute and next halloween our couple costume could be Kirito and Suhuga! " I fake gagged "Eren they're cousins! " he laughed and I kissed his cheeks.

As soon as I got home I cut my hair to his recommended length.

I keep forgetting that my long hair isn't there anymore. I must have looked pretty silly reaching out to nothing but the officers didn't comment on it. "When was the last time you talked them? " I couldn't remember an exact date for Hitch. "I last spoke to Hitch about a month ago I think I can't really remember. But it was just before she stopped coming to school. And I talked to Eren just yesterday right before I went to sleep. "

More writing from the officer. I turned back to the officer who was asking me questions. "Are you close with them? " he asked. "Yes... Wait no... Wait yes and no? " the officer raised a brow. "I'm Eren's girlfriend and Hitch was his girlfriend before I was. I've spoken to hitch before but I wouldn't really consider us close. I think she hates me to be honest. " I think I shared too much information. "So Hitch stopped coming to school after you and Eren started dating is that right? " I nodded.

The officer who was writing stopped and looked at me. "Ms Ackerman are you aware that Eren Jaeger was shot by Hitch Dryser last night? "

After I heard that I felt all of my emotions come out at once. I didn't sob or cry like I wanted to. I didn't laugh like I have done so much this year. I just stared I couldn't blink I couldn't breathe.  I haven't felt this way since my parents.

I knew I had to give some kind of response. I simply shook my head. I think the officers noticed that I needed time alone. The notepad was closed and they stood. "We're going to speak to your aunt and uncle now. We'll continue this conversation later. Thank you for your time Ms Ackerman. " They bowed politely and left the room.

I stayed in my chair and stared at the wall. My face suddenly felt hot and I knew it was red with frustration. Why am I reacting Eren was shot! 

I can't imagine what happened. Did he beg for mercy?  Did he cry?  Did he call out for help?  He must've been terrified.

Everyone dies I know this but the worst way to die is alone and afraid begging for safety.  Eren must have suffered and I had no idea. I heard it. The fat ugly sob that was choking me had finally left my mouth. And the tears left my eyes.
