Madelyn Nicole Mathers woke to the sound of his light snoring. She looked over at him, still completely unable to believe he had chosen her to spend the rest of his life with. It hadn't been easy in the beginning. There were quite a few arguments. It had all worked out and now they had been married for two years. She had given birth to his first son last year.

She could hear their son babbling to himself over the monitor. She was excited about today. It was their annual family vacation. To find a bit of normalcy they would take a road trip as a family to a resort. This year they were headed to Orange Lake Resort. It was going to be a ridiculously long drive but the girls were going along as well.

"Good morning handsome," she said stepping into Maverick's room.

Maverick Blaze Mathers was only 11 months old. It was going to be different this year. Last year he was still in the belly when they went on vacation. She picked up her son and carried him to the changing table. She changed his diaper and got him dressed for the day. She dressed him comfortably for the car.

"Babe, why are you up so early," his voice came from the doorway.
"Cuz your boy is up," she smiled, turning with the baby on her hip.
"Da," Maverick grinned.

Marshall reached out and took their son from her. He hadn't wanted anymore kids before she got pregnant. It was mostly worry that his girls thought he was replacing them. They loved Maverick though.

"Girls still sleeping?" he asked.

She nodded. He was a different person at home with them than he was in public. Kim aggravated him some days but not to the extent she used to. Madelyn just made things easy for him. It was almost a talent she had. She followed him down to the kitchen to make their son something to eat.

"Big breakfast today?" she asked.
"If you want," he replied.

She set about making scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. Marshall put Maverick in his high chair and gave him some puffs. His son giggled.

"Remind me again why I let you talk me into driving 19 hours just to possibly be annoyed by people for a week?" Marshall asked.
"Because you love us and it's normal," Alaina said entering the room.
"Surprised you are even awake,"

She made a face at him. He stuck his tongue out at her. Madelyn shook her head at them both. The other two girls made their way into the kitchen before breakfast was done.

"So we are all going in the Navigator today?" Hailie asked.

Marshall nodded as he snitched a piece of bacon. Madelyn swatted his hand. He chuckled as he walked off with his stolen bacon.

"Brat," she called after him.
"You love me," he called back.
"Lucky you, huh?"
"Of course."

He chuckled. She rolled her eyes. It wasn't much longer before she had everything finished. They went to the table to have breakfast. The plan was to leave later in the day and drive thru the night. They figured it would be better for Maverick.

"So what's the plan for the day?" Whitney asked.
"I plan on sleeping," Marshall laughed.
"I am gonna make sure everything is packed and ready to go," Madelyn said.
"We will help with Mave and packing the car," Hailie said.

Madelyn nodded.

*7 pm*

Madelyn stepped into their bedroom to wake her man. He looked so peaceful on their bed. She smiled.

"Marsh, its 7," she said.

He mumbled something in his sleep about not wanting to get up. She chuckled.

"Babe," she said.

He reached out and grabbed her. She laughed. He snuggled her into him and yawned. She kissed his jaw. He moved to meet her lips.

"We gotta get going," she said.
"Not til I get some, hoe,"  he mumbled.
"Then I am leaving without you."

He groaned. She pulled away from him and got up. He rubbed his eyes.

"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I asked you not to call me that," she said.
"What?"

She gave him a pointed look. He looked ridiculously confused.

"Calling me a hoe," she said.
"Fuck, I'm sorry baby. I didn't mean to," he said.
"I know."

He pulled her back into his arms. He pressed an intense kiss to her lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I love you, Madelyn," he said.
"I love you too," she replied.
"I am sorry."
"It's all right, babe."

They headed down the stairs. Madelyn had changed Maverick into his pajamas with a dry diaper. She had his favorite blanket for the car as well. They loaded up and headed out. Alaina and Whitney were in the third row. Maverick was in his car seat. Hailie was also in the middle row. They had snacks and drinks for the road. Marshall was driving and Madelyn was in the passenger seat. She looked over at him as they hit the highway. He reached over and took her hand. She smiled.

"Ready for an adventure?" he asked.
"With you? Always," she smiled.
