The girls landed in Hawaii. Ashley called Nate to let him know they made it. Madelyn watched her for a moment while her phone was gaining it's signal. She watched the notifications roll in.
Marshall: I know you can't say it and I don't know if you will ever forgive me but I love you so much that being apart is killing me. I promise to do whatever it takes to prove to you that I love you and that I feel like a complete ass for what I did. Just don't give up on us.
The tears were instant. She felt arms around her. Hailie hugged her tightly as she cried. Madelyn let all of the emotion go finally. She had been completely crushed by his actions. He had assumed the worst of her because of his past and it had led to this. The four of them got their bags and met up with the car to take them to their suite for the week. Alaina reached over and took Madelyn's phone. They turned it off and stuck it in her carry on bag.
"I have to be able to call the kids," she said.
"You will. Just not from your phone. It will be from one of our phones," Alaina said.
Madelyn nodded. They entered their suite. Hailie messaged her dad to let him know they arrived.
Hailie: We made it
Marshall:why didn't mads tell me?
Hailie: she saw your last message and lost it. She needs this to be more than just Eminem's wife or the kids mom. Dad, we got her. She will be fine, I promise.
Marshall: just be careful all right?
Hailie:of courseHailie rejoined the group. Madelyn had calmed down and they had all changed into swimsuits. They headed down to the beach. Madelyn looked at the girls.
"Thank you," she said.
"For what?" Hailie asked.
"Not abandoning me thru all of this."
"You didn't do anything wrong. He got the wrong idea and let it take over his brain. He messed up. No matter what you decide to do when it comes to him, we still love you. You will always be family."
Madelyn smiled and hugged her. They enjoyed their time on the beach until it began to rain. Then they went to a local night club. Madelyn got quite drunk. A man was hitting on her and she was flirting back. The girls kept a close eye on her because they didn't want her to do anything she would regret.
Madelyn walked away from the man feeling guilty for even talking to him because she was married. It all hit her how much she wanted Marshall. She missed him. Hailie refused to give her a phone to call him. Ashley was drunk enough that she handed Madelyn her phone when she asked.
"Hello," he answered sleepily.
"Baby," Madelyn choked on a sob.
"What's wrong Madelyn?"
"I miss you."
"I miss you too. Are you drunk?"
"I might be."
She giggled thru her tears. He sighed heavily.
"Where are you?" he asked.
"A club." she said.
"Go back to your room and go to bed babe. Sleep it off."
"Babe."
"Madelyn don't argue with me. Where is Hailie?"
Madelyn handed Hailie the phone. She talked to her father for a moment and then gave Ashley back the phone.
"Come on," she said.
They all headed back to the suite. She took Madelyn to one of the rooms and settled her in. She was almost completely out.
"Hailie, I love him so much." she mumbled.
"I know, he loves you too," the younger girl replied.
Madelyn fully passed out. Hailie sighed and walked out of the room. She found Alaina in the living room.
"What?" Alaina asked.
"Do you think they will make it thru this?" Hailie asked.
"I don't know honestly."
"They are both broken over it."
"Well Uncle did something extremely dumb."
"Yeah he did. I can't believe he would do that to her."
Alaina nodded. She didn't know what to do to help fix it for any of them. The kids were a mess as well. Alaina stared at Hailie. The two girls didn't know what to do anymore.
The next morning, Madelyn woke up last. Alaina was at the table when she came out of the room. The dark haired girl looked up at her.
"Morning," Alaina said.
"Morning," Madelyn groaned.
"How you feeling?"
"Like I got ran over with a truck."
"Well you were knocking them back pretty well."
Madelyn sighed.
"Did I do anything stupid?" she asked.
"You called uncle but that's about it. The guy you were talking to at the club didn't hold your attention for long because you only wanted uncle at that time," Alaina said.
"Really? I called him?"
"You got Ashley to give you her phone."
Madelyn sighed heavily. She was scared of what she had said to Marshall last night. She looked at Alaina for some kind of confirmation.
"I have no idea what you told him. I just know he told you to give Hailie the phone because you were drunk and needed to go home and sleep it off," Alaina said.
"Oh God," Madelyn said.
Alaina handed her the phone that was taken from her at the airport.
"Go call him and see what happened for yourself," she said.
Madelyn nodded. She turned the phone on and watched the notifications roll in.
Marshall: call me when you are sober if you still feel the same way
Madelyn hit the button to call him. He answered it on the second ring.
"Hey," he said.
"Hey," she almost whispered.
"Feeling better?"
"Yeah kinda. Fighting a hangover now."
"Not surprising."
"Did I say anything off the walls last night?"
"No not really. Just that you missed me."
"Well it's true."
"Yeah?"
"Yes."
"I miss you too. I think this is good for us though. I need to understand what you go thru when I am gone and you are home with the kids. I need to see how you worry about what I am doing when I am gone from the house. I think you need to and deserve to have some fun without worrying about me and the kids. They are all doing fine."
"I am having fun. It is hard to be away from Michigan though."
She talked to the kids before heading out with everyone to the beach again to relax and get a good tan.
