Marshall spent the next few days at home with his wife and their kids. He lay on the couch with Myles against his chest. The little boy was sound asleep against him. The kids were growing as they should. Madelyn had been discussing with the doctor about early intervention therapy for the babies so they would be on the same page as the kids their age. Even though they were premature babies, they could still catch up to everyone else.

"Babe," she sighed.
"What?" he asked.
"She should be here soon."
"Ok? Why are you getting so worked up over this? She is coming to work with our kids. They all signed a nondisclosure agreement so what does it matter?"
"I guess I'm just nervous."
"About what?"

He was losing his patience with everything lately. She knew she was overreacting about it but she wanted to make sure everything went well so her babies got the best care they could get.

"Madelyn, seriously. Calm the hell down," he said.

She sat down on the couch in a huff. He knew there was more going on than what she was telling him. Things had been all right until she got a phone call.

"Who called you this morning?" he asked carefully.
"Sadie," she said, sighing.
"Which one is she?"
"My mother's sister Anna's oldest daughter."
"What does she want?"
"Same as the rest, to meet you and flipping out over the way I treated my mother. Which Katrina is now selling the story of her crazy daughter who fabricated abuse to be taken away at the age of 8. Baby, I don't know how much more I can take."
"Madelyn, you need to stop answering your damn phone. This is getting out of control."
"I know it is Marshall. I swear I hear them in my sleep almost like a freakin mantra."

He chuckled. She leaned back on the couch and stared at the ceiling.

"Madelyn, listen to me. Nothing they can try to pull will take away from you being a damn good mother. You are the best parent our kids could have. You hold it down here every single day without fail and we would be lost without you." he said.
"I love you," she leaned down to kiss him.
"I love you too. But you are making me crazy with all this chaos of you trying to bottle up the shit from your family."
"I am so thankful you put up with me."
"Hey, you are my ride or die."

She laughed. He glanced down at their son against his chest.

"You are so sexy in dad mode," she said.
"Oh yeah?" he asked.

She nodded, kissing him again.

"Wait til I get in husband mode," he said.
"I can't wait," she bit her bottom lip.
"Stop that shit."
"What?"
"Biting that lip while I'm stuck with our kid like this."

She giggled. He reached up to stroke her cheek.

"You don't have to be perfect all the time babe. You are allowed to have flaws," he said.
"For my mother to exploite? No thanks, handsome." she replied.
"Well then your biggest mistake was marrying me. I will always be your biggest flaw."
"Nope, biggest weakness yes. Biggest child, yes. But never a flaw."
"Biggest child huh?"

The half grin on his face said it all. Her eyes widened.

"Marshall Bruce Mathers III don't you dare behave like a child," she said.
"But mama," he whined.
"Don't do it. I really will lose my damn mind."

He laughed. She sighed heavily. He yawned as he lay there.

"Show comes out next week. People will decide for themselves if you are being a psycho or not," he joked.
"Oh god, the last few weeks have been such chaos I probably will look like a raging bitch," she sighed.
"It's all good. You are my raging bitch and I love you for it."
"Except when you bite my head off."
"Babe, we gotta argue sometime or people are gonna figure out we are robots."

She laughed, startling their son. He quickly patted their son's back to keep him asleep.

"Big bully," he whispered.
"Shut up, I am gonna go work out in the gym. You good with that?" she asked.
"Whatever makes you happy."

She kissed his lips again and stood up. He relaxed with their son. She went up the stairs to change clothes. This need for perfection was going to drive him insane but as long as she was happy then he would leave it alone. He was tired of the family who had never been around now causing drama. He pulled his phone from his pocket as it began to vibrate against his leg.

"Hey Christopher, what can I do for you?" he asked answering it.
"Keep a secret from my daughter," the man replied.
"What?"
"I am leaving Katrina. I can't take it any more. She is slowly killing me and I gotta get out of here."
"Woah, man those are some serious accusations."
"I don't mean killing me in the literal sense. I mean she is making me crazy. I can't stand by while she tries her hardest to bring Madelyn down. She is jealous that Madelyn has a good life despite everything and she is slumming it according to her."
"So where are you gonna go?"
"I am going to stay with James and Staci for a while so I can continue with treatment and therapy."
"Why don't you just come here?"
"Defeats the purpose of hiding it all from Madelyn right now, son."
"You don't think Katrina will spew it to the media?"
"I am sure she will but the divorce proceedings will be underway by then."
"Chris, just come stay here. We have the room and I can get whatever you need."
"Marshall, I appreciate the offer but I will not live off the daughter who has just come back into my life nor will I live off her husband."

Marshall sighed heavily. He was glad that Chris and James didn't seem to want to be in the spotlight nor deal with the money that he could give. They just wanted normal lives and a decent normal relationship with Madelyn and the family. They wanted to make up for the past. It made Marshall wonder about Sarah and Michael for a moment even though he knew all they wanted was money and his name.
