AN: Sorry my updates have slowed, I currently have all 3 of my kiddos home and hubs has been off sporadically due to an injury so I get distracted. Hopefully this whole virus thing will calm down and life can get back to normal soon.
Madelyn woke up alone. It had become the norm in the last few days. She was sure Marshall was upset with her over the reaction to the interview. She really wasn't even mad about the whole thing.
Matthew crying pulled her from her own head as she got up to go get him from his bed. She changed his diaper and headed for a bottle. She wasn't even sure where Marshall was at this point but they were all at the house thanks to the governor's declaration that everyone stay at home for two weeks. She walked into the kitchen and it was empty. The living room was as well. She assumed he was in the basement in one of three places, the game room, the gym, or the studio. She was leaning toward the studio. Once all the kids were up and fed, she went looking for him. She entered the studio and wasn't shocked to find him behind the mic. She just watched him for a moment as he vented his feelings. He hadn't even seen her yet as he rapped.
Guilt swept over her like a tidal wave as he poured out his frustrations about everything. He was in general frustrated with where they were as a family and how he felt he was screwing it all up again. She couldn't help herself and entered the booth.
Her arms wrapped around him and she buried her face in his neck. He stopped what he was doing and put his arms around her waist. He just held her for a moment as the beat still played around them.
"Baby, let me turn this off," he said quietly in her ear.
She nodded and let go of him. He turned the beat off as well as the microphone before looking at her again.
"What's up?" he asked.
"Do you really feel like that?" she asked.
He nodded slowly. She would have known if he was lying so there was no point in trying.
"I'm sorry that I make you feel that way," she said.
"It ain't you, Mads," he started.
"It is me, Marshall. I can't keep a decent relationship to save my life. I know it's stupid but in all reality I am just waiting for the day you wake up sick of my bullshit and tell me to fuck off."
"Why would you think that would happen?"
"Because that's what I do. I mess shit up all the time. I get mad about stupid shit and push you away."
"Baby you can push all you want but I ain't going no where. You are stuck with me."
"I love that I am stuck with you. I just know I carry a lot of crazy in my life. I just feel bad that it gets taken out on you."
"It's all good, mama."
"No it's not, Marshall. I can be a better wife. I know you deserve that."
"Madelyn Nicole, you already do so much for me. Hell of a lot more than any other bitch has ever done for me. I mean damn, who would carry triplets for me."
Madelyn giggled as his arms came to rest around her waist as they sat in the big chair together. She was in his lap.
"I miss waking up with you next to me, Marshall," she sighed.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep last night. I didn't want to keep you up," he said.
"I want you to talk to me when you feel like this though. I don't want us to resent each other over stupid shit that is easy to fix with a conversation."
He nodded, placing a gentle kiss on her shoulder. She closed her eyes the moment his lips came in contact with her skin.
"Your son wants you to play Candyland with him by the way," she said.
"Oh he does huh?" Marshall asked.
"It's originally why I came looking for you."
He nodded. She smiled, leaning back on him.
"Can I ask you something?" she asked.
"Of course you can," he replied.
"Why didn't you mention the other kids in your last interview?"
"Because I want them out of the media as much as possible."
"They want us to film season 2 for our show."
He rolled his eyes. They weren't going to catch much now. Everything was shut down and the city was pretty much just going stir crazy.
"Come on, lets go play Candyland with our son," he said.
She nodded and stood up. They spent the remainder of the morning playing board games with their oldest. It was a morning well spent. After lunch the kids all took a nap. Marshall lay on the couch with his wife in his arms watching a movie on Netflix.
